(finding 15-30 minutes a day to knock out a turn)
You're either really, impressively good at this kind of game, or you never played this game all the way through. ;D

The power of motivation, dedication, and mindless persistence can see one through any obstacle..........or in this case, naïve enthusiasm!  :o

But seriously, I have no idea what I am doing and will likely be an easy kill. (but I do have experience playing micromanagement heavy games
*see Amarillo Design Bureau*).

And the wife and kid are out of the house for the month, so I have little else to do other than work.

Eh, sort of forgot how much micromanagement this game is.  Does anyone else want to play House Decados?

If the hive mind agrees and no other experienced players desire to take over.....let me know.

You are still in Il Palazzo, we have reached the Decados turn. My prediction may very well come true.

Korono, I would be willing to let you play but first I'd like to ask Gollor as he is next up in the list. I'd recommend you install the mod and try a single player game as the Decados. You don't have to play start to finish but it would help immensely if you saw the...dedication a person needs to get through 30 rounds from now.

It will also make you less of an easy kill. We will happily accept a moderate kill.

No problem, don't want to impose.

I have the game up and running with the mod single player and am checking out Decados now. Using some of Imperialus11's videos as a guide.

Just shoot me a line if you get desperate for a filler.

So is Gollor over from EuchreJack taking over for Decados, I would like to really like to see a turn at least every 2 1/2 days once Il Palazzo is freed up.  Il Palazzo did you say your deadline for work passes on July 15th?

Also, Korono Lakeela the average turn will take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours in the beginning around turn 5 and up you can get it down to about 45 minutes to complete.

Anyways, can't wait to get the next turn!

Gollor will be taking over House Decados, Korono Lakeela is next in line if we lose anyone else.
He had some questions about PBEM so I'm happy to help resolve those.

And I agree with you Vertab that once Il Palazzo has finished his deadline I'd like to try and maintain a pace of a turn completed every two days or so. Once we get past the first elections we'll re-evaluate.

I thought I would share some more insight into Emperor Wars economics, since the tech tree is more complex per the creator of the Reality Mod with the idea that the march out of the Dark Ages should be slower, I incorporated the obvious lack of Merchant Guild involvement in Emperor Wars that was missing from the vanilla EFS.

The surviving Corporations of the Collapse of the Second Republic fled to Leaguehiem (which wasn't called that during the 2nd Republic but was renamed later, also a large group of Corporations also fled to Ishktar) as a haven for capitalism, democracy, and technology.  Since the noble houses and the church was about to crush them for good they converted over time from Corporations to Guilds to protect their technological secrets.  There are 5 major guilds, and hundreds of smaller guilds and Leaguehiem is ruled by a elected character known has the Leaguemeister that can be captured and is worth 10,000 firebirds per turn.

Top 5 Guilds: (Most accessible through Economics and Macroeconomics technology either cost gems to purchase and have high maintenance costs to keep any one house from just recruiting hundreds of Dreadnaughts)

Reeves Guild - Bankers, Lawyers, and Advisors non combat units that just produce money when they are recruited

The Charioteers - Pilots, Transport Spaceships, and Space Warships usually expensive to maintain but available if a houses royal navy is decimated or destroyed

The Muster (aka Chainers for the ball and chain logo & slave trade) - This is the remnants of the Corporations of Second Republic Military and gives a player access to expensive high cost mercenaries early on in the game, and to slave labor for build cities, slave labor also produces money because you are not paying them

The Scravers - Scavengers that are basically the mafia and criminals but are protected by the League can only be built in the Shield, this guild comes from the slums and since a planetary shield is usually at the center of a city cluster seemed like a logical place for the slums

Supreme Order of Engineers - Engineers and Construction Workers used for building and are hired in factories usually cybernetic types

In the game there are minor guilds that produce money or build cities: Architect Guild more upper class than the Engineers, Courtesan Guild, Entertainment Guild, etc.

This is why the game has a larger return in money in the beginning it may seem like alot early on but when all of the houses starts purchasing League Units the budget can start get really tight, really fast so financial management is a must after about turn 10

Please let me know if you have any questions?

I appreciate that you've given money a use in the mid to late game. In every Nova game I've been in (all two) money loses any real meaning once you've purchased what you need from the agoras and built up your resource cities sufficiently. At least here there will be a real drive to balance your budget while also trying to squeeze as many resources as you can.

I am also very amused by the idea of capturing the Patriarch and forcing him to make firebirds for me.

Questions:
The Slayer's Guild, in single player I've fought the AI using them and after routing them they disappear. Is this a feature of a "one-time" contract or a bug?

On several worlds it seems like rebel units respawn in the wastes between cities on certain continents. Do they respawn or do I keep missing them because of their good camo?

Will I ever be able to beat the Vau as a player? They seem horrendously powerful, which makes sense since they are leagues ahead of the Empire technologically but that essentially seems to make their worlds untouchable by the players forever.

Yes, that was the goal, EFS vanilla was always more get the tech and build the resource cities that money was basically useless which defeated any real reason for having a AI League Player now they are very vital part of the game play based on the Fading Suns Lore.

I am also very amused by the idea of capturing the Patriarch and forcing him to make firebirds for me.

Yes that is hilarious, the logic is that the Patriarch and the Leaguemeister are going to be non-combatant characters in reality and even if you conquer Holy Terra or Leaguehiem the continuity of the Known Worlds will always need a head of the church and league even if they are just now pawns of a noble house, so their wealth will be transfered to the house that now controls them as hostages.

Questions:
The Slayer's Guild, in single player I've fought the AI using them and after routing them they disappear. Is this a feature of a "one-time" contract or a bug?

That is most likely a bug. I didn't program any specific termination traits into the Slayers Guild.

On several worlds it seems like rebel units respawn in the wastes between cities on certain continents. Do they respawn or do I keep missing them because of their good camo?

No they do not respawn you are just overlooking them because of their camo traits, when I did the research for designing the planet maps there were dozens of different rebel type units throughout the Known Worlds whether they are Ukari Rebels on Aylon, Obun Separtists on Delphi, Husks (Zombies) on Pyre, etc. etc etc.  I decided to include all of them in the game.  In reality, a intergalactic technology deprived feudal system could not maintain absolute control over an entire planet, so if you are new to the game and think your world is secure I would advise send out plenty of scouts to make sure you don't get a surprise revolution on your palace doorstep  :o

Will I ever be able to beat the Vau as a player? They seem horrendously powerful, which makes sense since they are leagues ahead of the Empire technologically but that essentially seems to make their worlds untouchable by the players forever.

Possibly, but not as a single player it would take a joint effort between several houses, of course, in the Fading Suns Lore a single Vau Warship decimated an entire Second Republic Fleet at Apshai when the humans tried to subjugate the pacifist insectoids the G'Nesh not knowing that Apshai was part of the Vau Hegemony.  So, I made their ships reflect that reality, if they could defeat humans at the height of their technology we would be no match for them during a Dark Age.  The Vau have granted humans permissions to settle parts of Manitou, especially psychics and the changed, this irks the Inquisition because the Vau has made it clear they are not welcomed there so it has become a safe haven for misfits, the Imperial Eye and human colonists have estates on Apshai as well as long as they do not interfere with the idigenous G'Nesh.  Shaduveen only allows visitors, and Vril-Ya is the world the Vau chose to be there Embassy world to humanity which all parts of humanity is welcome there but only on one island.  So, in game play it would be alright for colonization of Manitou and Apshai for resources, but maybe we should make a rule that if you build a palace on any Vau world you must declare war on the Vau since in reality I don't think they would let any humans just claim their worlds.  What are your thoughts on that?

One other note, regarding rebels the worlds with the least to the most rebels in order are the Li Halan they are very religious, kind to their subjects, and don't support slavery at all and the Inquisition helps keep miscreants in line from time to time, next would be the Hazat for opposite reasons you screw with Hazat and you are going to get a boot on your neck, the Hawkwoods, like the Li Halan are kind to their subjects but have problems with Vuldrok Barbarians and Obun Separatists, the Decados has to deal with indigenous Alien populations they have have exploited in the past that now hate them, and lastly the Al-Malik although the richest house because of the ties to the League have Ukari Revolutionaries, indigenous Aliens, and the pain in the backside Symbiots on their doorstep.

However, each world has its unique problems with rebels take the Li Halan for example while Kish is relatively peaceful, a former League Lab on Rampart has accidently released a legion of Xyll Warbeasts and Changed into the surrounding jungle just before it was conquered by the Li Halan which must be dealt with early on or they will be a major problem, plus a coven of heretic psychic witches occupy a Mountain Range in the east. Also, the Space Pirate known as the "The Devil Beliah" is holding Icon hostage from orbit and won't stop bombarding until he is paid off or defeated in the Lore since the Li Halan fleet is away fighting Decados on Malignatius and the League on Rampart. Having a rapid strike force ready to deal with these problems is essential in the first five turns.

if they could defeat humans at the height of their technology we would be no match for them during a Dark Age.
I'm pretty sure the tech of the Phoenix Empire (so basically the final tiers of research in the game, though possibly bits of whatever comes next) eclipsed the Second Republic in the lore. Although it hasn't happened, I wouldn't bet on the Vau, if the Empire decided to invade one day. ;)

(Well, war tech anyway. By the time the Emperor Wars ended, the peasants still plowed by hand, but their brothers under arms flew around in giant, terrifying space hulks dropping fusion bombs on planets and follwoing up with infanty dropped directly from orbit. Stiil, things are getting better on the home front too now.)
