Oh, so nice Flavius! And so unexpected, if not undeserved. I wish more lords and ladies followed his example.

(ooc: I should get the turn done by today evening)

edit: as long as I get the .dat file from Margrave

'Progress' is currently the most chic word on Istakhr. All enemies of the Donald either retreat in disarray, or suddenly become friendly and amenable.

On Stigmata, Symbiots suffered another crushing defeat under the indomitable ceramsteel feet of the Garrison soldiers. Scions of Zhal led the charge, cleaving terrible wounds in the twisted hive-flesh of the Symbiots, while ancient Golems mowed down incoming spitters as if they were mere fireflies. Once more, the priests chanted the glory of Pancreator and the Empire of Man - bravely raising against all adversity.
Cities are being erected, and forges churn out weapons of war. No respite will be given to the xenos.

On Daishan, fiery inferno rained upon Symbiot hives, sparing neither Xildur nor Xyll.

On De Moley, a bold attack lead by Lady Yusara broke through the bulwarks of a great Church's stronghold, wrestling the administrative control of the planet from misguided zealotry of Brothers Battle. The battle is far from over, as a great force of warrior monks still roams the wastelands, laying waste to all in their wake. Yet, the common men begin to see a hope for deliverance form the endless struggle, and flock to the banners of al-Malik and Decados.

On Madoc, peaceful takeover of the palace compound has been completed, and relations with Li Halan soar.

On Leagueheim, gains are always temporary, as the hordes of Golems never tarry too long before retaking whatever tiny beachhead can be secured. Yet, the palace was symbolically captured this year. Admittedly, it was pretty much undefended after Li Halan troops ravaged through its defences a few years back, and is likely to be recaptured back in no time, but some satisfaction remains.

Progress is the word on everybody's lips these days. Let's hope it stays there for good.

Noble Senators

Regarding Lord Alvarex's inquiry in the case of Holy Terra - Lord Ibn Donald would like to suggest that the task of pacifying the old home of now-deposed Patriarch be granted to the Hazat. No other house can boast a sufficiently martial spirit to take upon such grave burden. While House Hawkwood proposed to share in the effort, we feel that they should focus all their might on pacifying the Muster strongholds on Bannockburn, and not allow themselves any distractions.
Our Lady Regent has proven time and again to be the beacon of honour and duty, and her house troops have no match on the battlefield. Who else could be trusted with extending the protection of the Empire over the stranded peons of Terra?

OOC: I think I've found another unit that suffers from heavy balance issues - the Cyber Vorox (or the Cyber Warrior, depends on how you look at it).
C.V. is 75 food and 5 wetware, 2 turns in labs. Compare with Cyber Warrior, whose stats are arguably only better insofar as having a modest air attack capability: it costs 100 wetware and a small number of assorted resources (not sure where and with what technology it is built). The difference in price is crazy. I don't see anyone ever building the latter.
IMO, at least chopping off one '0' of the wetware cost on the Cyber Warrior might be needed - if not for this one, then for future games. Or, alternatively, ramping up the Cyber Vorox cost.

The Royal House Li Halan has nothing to report to the Imperial Senate, all is peaceful on the Garden Worlds.

Dearest Yusara,

I am quite flattered, but I still yearn for a lasting peace with the Patriarch (though he continues to spit at me from the barred windows of his VERY NICE OFFICE.  Let us see what the new year holds in store, and perhaps we will be able to come to a decision by year's end.

Yours,
Lady Santiago, &c.

OOC: Yes, I jacked up all the Vorox units in the update we are using, because in EFS Lore that are the true badass aliens, but I made all of them weaker than a freaking O'orym (which by the way is a naval unit in the next update I am currently working on) when I update the cyber Vorox that will take a while to build and cost a lot more because they will be up there will assasins and golems because what is more scary than a Vorox but a freaking Cyborg Vorox!!!

To the Assembled Lords and Guests of the Imperial Assembly:

It is with great pleasure that I announce another step forward toward universal peace!  This time, the Hazat and House Li Halan will jointly announce entry into a Mutually-Assured Defense treaty with the following terms:

  • Li Halan warships and troops will be commissioned into the service of the Hazat to liberate Grail from House Keddah and transfer ownership of that world to House Hazat.
  • Once liberated, the Hazat will grant in perpetuity free passage to House Li Halan through the Grail jump gate.
  • House Hazat and House Li Halan will station House and Imperial warships at Pyre, and make a public statement declaring it a free Church world under our protection.

This will finally lay rest to the rebellion of the House Keddah, leaving it under control of the Hazat who will oversee its restoration to a great planet of the Empire.  House Li Halan, who will graciously assist in this cause, will be repaid with guaranteed jump gate access through Grail to Byzantium 2us, preventing any future tension among the Houses from severing them from the Capitol World.

Jointly, our two Houses will defend Pyre as a free Church planet where the faithful may make pilgrimage.  Of course, this lies on the willingness of the Patriarch to make peace (as we cannot defend a planet which attacks its protectors), but our hope is that the Hazat, Li Halan, and Church may see a serenity that shall grow throughout our Empire.

Sincerely,
Lady Santiago Eduardo d'Arc y de Aragon
Second Regent of the Empire
Defender of the Faith
Chancellor of the League

Li Halan Trade Missions
« Reply #683 on: October 23, 2015, 06:20:25 am »

Noble Lords of the Al-Malik, Hazat, and Hawkwoods,

Hopefully, next year if I can convince the League to accept my offer of peace (for some reason they still can't get over me kidnapping their leader) I will be sending transports on trade missions to the Agoras throughout the Empire.  So, when you encounter one or two lone diplomatic envoys or Li Halan Respected House Merchants (smugglers) transiting your jump gates you will know their intentions.

Also, you will notice that the Decados are completely absent from this notification since they have completely destroyed any commerce within their borders.  Which leads me to ask Lord Ibn Donald, since it is such a long journey to De Moley and that world is now under your dominion does an Agora yet thrive there our has Lord Vladimir razed it to the ground like the others.  As beautiful as the irradiated landscape of De Moley may be, we would find it tedious to journey there for trade only to find the bazaar a smoldering heap of ash.

Most Humbly,

Duke Flavius Li Halan

Noble Lords and Ladies

The De Moley Agora stands unscathed.

However, house al-Malik does not understand the reasoning behind Duke Flavius' attempt to access this and other Agoras. All League assets on our planets are under strict embargo, and their personnel remains under house arrest. Access to their stock is prohibited, and any attempt to conduct trade will be cracked down on and all illegally acquired wares confiscated.

Furthermore, isn't it a little bit too arrogant of the Li Halan to close the skies over their worlds to all commerce, while demanding open access to other houses' planets?

This request is plainly absurd, and will not be entertained. Any trespassing smugglers unregistered with the al-Malik Black Market authority, as well as other non-ministerial transports without clearance, will be forcefully removed from the premises.
We will grant one year grace to ships already present in our space, to allow their retrieval.

Lord Ibn Donald,

This is unfortunate but not unexpected, however, you are incorrect about Li Halan space our jump lanes are only closed to the passage of warships not commercial vessels, we have stated this several times recently.  Long ago we all established the free flow of commerce throughout the Empire has the Al-Malik grown so arrogant they think they can dictate terms to other houses.  Our vessels will commence on their trade missions throughout the Empire, and should you fire on any of them we will retaliate harshly and swiftly.  We granted you mercy once to deal with our own affairs don't test our resolve a second time, lest you have decided to lose all that you have gained so far.

Pfft.

What is it, Flavio? Resorting to threats again? Why, I think I might just follow Vlad's example and confiscate all the wares after all, just to spite you.

Good luck with your ransacking other houses' stores.

Lord Ibn Donald,

Please do sack your Agoras, while the Li Halan are not braggarts about our wealth, it is past time we point out that we have six times the net worth of all of the Al-Malik holdings combined.  Which is allowing us the launch our third massive Charioteer Fleet next year and our fourth in three years.  How have we accomplished this? By selling the plethora of goods we produce through free trade with our Agoras, not by stealing ships from incompetent League Commanders or looting the resources of Leaguhiem like you.

So yes, please destroy your Agoras, we dare you, no wait we double dare you, no we triple dare you!!!

It will only usher in the bankruptcy of your house sooner rather than later, it only help our goals not yours.

Mosty Humbly,

Duke Flavius Li Halan

Yes, I can see you're no braggart when it comes to wealth. Or the size of your... fleet. I'm sure you don't have to compensate for anything.

Ibn Donald,

Do not leave out that all of my long flowing black hair on my head is real also, and doesn't look like a rabid Shaprutian Flurg like a certain Ishktarian Duke that we all know, and I am not talking about your uncle Yusef, although I do see how it does run in your inbred bloodline.

Graciously,

Duke Flavius Li Halan
