I'll back up Il Palazzo with my own experiences:
I've been in a few PBEMs with Karlito as well.  I seem to recall once he was gone for about two weeks, but he did come back.

That said, Sept. 1st seems like a reasonable deadline.  Has anyone politely PM'd Karlito?  He may receive an email when he gets a PM, so it reaches past these boards.

...And I have a lot of respect for everyone in this game.  I took one look at managing multiple planets, hundreds of units, 50+ cities, little automation, and no saving in the middle of the turn, and ran away hard.

As long as it doesn't crash it's all gravy.

When it does though, it is soul crushing.

I can agree with September 1st. My experience with Karlito have been all positive. Hopefully whatever is going on in meatspace for him is nothing serious.

Hey all, sorry about the delay. Will try to do the turn today. Definitely by tomorrow anyway. I expect my forum activity will be pretty sparse for about another week though.

Welcome Back Karlito, however the irony is that on Friday I will be in meetings with my boss from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and then drive him to the airport.  If we can get through the next turn I will do it late tomorrow evening or first thing Saturday morning.

Also, glad to see you Karlito, hope whatever it is your doing is going well.

Also also I will be on vacation and away from a EOFS capable computer from Saturday to Wednesday next week. Sorry about that, family calls.

==================================================================

As Imperial Fleet Commander I have ordered contingents of the Fleet over the world of Pentateuch. This is not a blockade or quarantine. All ships are free to use the orbit of Pentateuch as their stopover or destination.
All shipping is free to come and go as they please. It would be the highest form of arrogance to dictate the status of a Church world.

However, in the interest of maintaining Galactic Peace, any form of hostile action taken over the skies of Pentateuch by any party against any other party will be considered a breach of the Imperial Trust and answered in kind against the offender. Tensions are running high with symbiot ships lurking about and sightings of Informants amongst lands of the Nobility.

I have been remiss in proclaiming Imperial Fleet expansion. Under my careful ministrations I have added six new holdings for the Fleet on Tethys and one new holding on Nowhere during the zombie incursion. Which I believe to be thoroughly eradicated.

The first expeditionary force for action beyond Stigmata will soon begin as a sufficient attack force has been assembled. I am taking suggestions for their destination in the symbiot cluster by any Major or Minor House Senator here in Byzantium Secundus.

I would also announce that House Hawkwood has settled one city on Pentateuch and two on Tethys.

Great to see everything moving again, if I can get the turn tomorrow, I will get it out and hopefully back around to Margrave before he leaves for his vacation.

Il Palazzo were you going to send the turn before Margrave gets back on Wednesday or are you just going to wait till then?

I was hoping a certain somebody would get back to me with messages, so I figured I'd take advantage of Margrave's absence.

I need other people to voice their opinion on colonisation restrictions we talked about a moment before. We've got Vertab for more restrictions, and Margrave against.
I'd like to know where we're standing, since I see Karlito's fleet likely preparing to colonise Pyre and I wonder if I should go for it while I've got a headstart.

Hey now, that's how rumors get started.

I'll have to take a closer look at the proposed restrictions, but my impression from the time I skimmed the proposal is that, like Margrave, I don't necessarily want more rules added at this stage of the game.

I went with the 'no new rules' approach and bought a city on Pyre from the Church.
Having the privilege of being the last in the line, I immediately saw the Church moving, and at least on one occasion attack my city.

I've no idea what caused that. Perhaps they really like having Pyre for themselves ;)

In any case, is it o.k. to sue for peace at any time in such a case?

Oh, and another couple of cities were built on Madoc.

I am fine with the old rules, there is no need to change them in my opinion. Maybe only in another pbems.

Nova House Rules: Old Rules

http://website.lineone.net/~rwein/nova/houserules.htm

31.You may not ask the Patriarch for a peace treaty until 5 turns after you stop sinning. Sinning is any of the following:
- Researching or possessing a proscribed tech.
- Starting a war with the Church.
- Possessing a Scepter which originally belonged to the Church.
It appears that the Patriarch will always accept a peace offer, even when you still possess proscribed techs!

Since, we are all committed to old rules I say we stick as close as possible with the 5 turns, even though the old rules do not clarify whether you start the war or the Church does.  We should also apply this to the the League unless we want to stick with that old rule too, that says no one can ever make peace with the League which I think is a ridiculous rule.

1 turn is too short, but 5 seems too long.  How about a compromise of 3 turns for both the Church or League.
