It works fine for me under 64-bit Win7, so who knows what the problem is? Hell, I've even gotten EFS to work on Ubuntu with WINE.

Problem with Decados Planets is: on one world is a game-ending zombie apocalypse fortress, that if you come even close to it activates it and starts spawning endless hordes of zombies and massive spore ships.

The other worlds are relatively mineral poor, Xenos Overrun (hell half of Decados homeworld is filled with those insectoid aliens which just hide in the jungle and attack lone units anad apparently also respawn in there) or you have to deal with those high-tech idiot xenos which cover the southern part of the map. if you feel adventurous you can egage in phyrric campaigns for unclaimed planets filled with 80 PSY Damage Units and Power-Armoured Support Infantry or alternatively engage the apparent Homeworld of Xyll-Warbeasts.

So yeah more planets at a constatn harrassment factor.
By the Way i always kept a jet within attack range of that Zombie Fortress so that in case everything went south i could just end everyone with a Zombie/Spore Apocalypse

It also has me renewing my suggestion of random start.  Zombie Apocalypse Fortress is part of the mod map and not the homeworld.

First off, welcome aboard! Which House would you like to be?

It also has me renewing my suggestion of random start.  Zombie Apocalypse Fortress is part of the mod map and not the homeworld.

I can be persuaded to do a random galaxy but one of the nice features of this mod is that it's well populated and turns the NPC factions into hefty opponents, especially the Symbiots. I don't think Zombie Pillow Fort will ever be a problem unless someone pokes it.

A quick run through singleplayer Random makes my biggest concern that the Houses will start with different numbers of units on their homeworlds and vassal planets. Especially Nobles, Li Halan gets shafted with only 8 nobles, Hawkwood gets 12.

My experience in Win8 is much the same as maniac's in 7 - although on my last machine I got it working on 7 (albeit not w/o a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth first). If I were more patient I'd try to see if my 7 laptop could take it - a game of EFS with you crusty lot would be a treat - but I'm inclined to think it would be too much pain for something as drawn-out as this, so to the peanut gallery I go.

You'll never know unless you give a try, join the scheming. There's no other experience quite like it.

I still remember Mainiac's mass slaughter Byzantium nobles, orchestrated primarily because he was Li Halan, which meant going first.  So it isn't as unfair as it seems.  Additionally, since random starts are fundamentally unfair, that could actually act as balance, by picking a random less unfair to Li Halan and more unfair to Hawkwood.

Even though I generally prefer random, I can be persuaded to go normal.

To ante up, so to speak, I'll even offer to take the disadvantaged Li Halan if we go random.  Otherwise, I'm thinking Decados, as I have a few fun ideas.  And not just the mass recruitment of whores.

I'll go with the flow, if more people want random then s'cool. Heres the million firebird question if we do go random though, yay or nay on alternate jumproutes for the Symbiots to bypass Stigmata? I ain't kidding when I say they've been eating their spinach.

We are so close to starting I can taste it. And it tastes like...the 90s.

Step right up ladies and gentlemen! Who among you feels ready to take up this cup, to cement your very noble and esteemed buttocks to the Imperial Throne of the Known Galaxy?

I even promise to post (semi)regular updates of the games progress. Just pretty please sign up?

Aren't you missing. like, 40% of the players?  ???
Anyway, I might be up for it. What is the policy on turn skipping? And have you read my (as yet untested) proposal on Blitz?

I tried to play chess but two of my opponents were playing competitive checkers as a third person walked in with Game of Thrones in hand confused cause they thought this was the book club.

Sorry, I haven't updated the original post yet. EuchreJack has recently joined and depending on whether we go with a random galaxy or the historical one will determine which House he wants to be. So I suppose the first question is do which galaxy do you favor the most?

I've read the Blitz proposal and I like it, I'm just concerned for the amount of work it would be for the future GM. Especially on the historical map, it's packed to bursting with more units and cities.

Turn skipping I suppose would depend on whether we get a GM or not. We're going to hand off passwords at least to the person in front of us in the turn order. If we really, absolutely, critically need to skip a turn we can but if it gets to be a routine problem then we might as well replace the player. Too many empty turns may very well cripple a House.

I just finished reading through the posts, good to see you all back in action, I am the guy that created this mod that was trying to recruit you all when you last game was coming to an end.  Since, then I have played 2 PBEM Games in Emperor Wars then took a long break.  I would really like to join a new one with some new players.

One item I noticed, Emperor Wars will crash in Random Galaxy no matter how much I modded it I just couldn't get that option to work right.  Anyways, it is based on the lore from all of Holistic Suns "Fading Suns" books so Historical is really the default for Emperor Wars.

To answer one question I saw in the thread, the Decados world with the Zombie Fortress is Malignatius they are known as Husks or on Malignatius they call them Ice-Crackers anyways some funky sorcerer lives up in the northern pole with his army of the undead.  Fading Suns had "White Walkers" long before Game of Thrones, haha "Winter is Coming!"

Also, I noticed a thread post about unique Units and most cannot be recreated through research so use sparingly, either they are from "Lost Worlds" meaning there are no more of them because a jumpgate is sealed, or they are from Minority Alien Races which the no re-build reflects their small populations.

Anyways, I am ready to roll just give me any house and I am ready to get going, also if anyone has any questions about the mod or specific units please ask.

Hi Vertab Nukks.
What's your take on having the plague on or off in your mod?
