Turn sent

Ok, so this is news for me - apparently alien ruins (all of them it seems) now are undefended and always give you three technologies instead of being just a different kind of ruins.

There also appears to be a bug there - if you explore more than one in the same turn, and don't check your lab database after each instance, then you only get the first three techs and the rest is lost.

Il Palazzo, alien ruins defenses reset every time you do a new game it appears you have the majority of the warlock giving you technology in this game, last time I played a PBEM it was the Hazat that had the majority of them.  However, this is not all of the alien ruins the Church opened one on Rampart this last turn, and after my bombardment I swooped in to find 20 gems.  However, you are right about the tech bonus bug it was hardwired into vanilla EFS programming and that is something I wasn't able to fix.

That is one helluva bug. Alien ruins usually have for me some variation of warlocks/xyll warbeats or Imperial Soldiers with a plague bomb. I've never found an empty one. The Church/League didn't release them or something? Also I only ever get 1 tech from them.

High camo rebels are going to be the death of me.

Yep, they are empty when you move to attack them it gives you a message something like "A Warlock sympathetic to your cause bestows 3 techs on your house then disappears into the forest".

Also, another FYI for everyone since the Church now owns the monasteries they don't give you free tech anymore, and the monasteries can build most of the Church units as well (Brother Battle, Inquisitors, etc.) so if you see an influx of Church units on your worlds out in the wild later in the game and don't know where they are coming from that is the reason why.  They are just doing the good work required by the Pancreator!  ;D

Rebel Cities on Manitou and Apshai

With our new colonization rule on Vau Worlds, I wanted to get some feedback from eveyone, I forgot about the rebel cities on Manitou and Apshai.

Can we treat them like any other rebel city and capture them, or do we need to add some stipulations to them as well?

Apshai the Vau really don't care what humans do on their continent, but Manitou is an Asylum world and I don't think they would appreciate the Houses or the Church attacking the rebels there.

Any thoughts?

About the Church and the League stumbling on your stealthed units and declaring war as a result - can we just ask for peace the very same turn that happens?
I remember there being a house rule in all other games I played, where one could not sue for peace without a 2-turn delay and only if stopped sinning - to alleviate the issue with NPC factions always accepting peace.

By the way, I like what Vertab (I assume) did with the graphical representation of the land purchase rule. Why is there nothing about Vau and gems there, though? Is that bit not going to be a rule after all?

I'd add a rule, that attacking neutral cities on Manitou necessitates a declaration of war on the Vau - but admittedly it might be a bit harsh on Li Halan and Decados.

I'd add a rule, that attacking neutral cities on Manitou necessitates a declaration of war on the Vau - but admittedly it might be a bit harsh on Li Halan and Decados.

War with the Church or League - accidentally attacking you once on a turn, a player should be able to sue for peace the next turn. But if the Church attacks you at several locations on different worlds in the same turn then the AI has declared war on you and there should be a few turns before you can sue for peace, and of course if you declare war on them you have to wait the alloted time to sue for peace as stipulated in the house rules.

Vau Land Purchase Rule - Margrave actually put that image together, I assume he left out the Vau land purchase rule with gems by accident.  But I agree with the 20 gems for new property on Apshai or Manitou.

Manitou and Apshai Rebels - I agree with your Manitou statement that we should include rebels on Manitou the same as declaring war on the Vau, but we don't have to declare war on the Vau if the rebels attack a city we build on Manitou.  Apshai I don't think that rule would apply since the Vau only rule there is don't both the G'Nesh.  So if you attack any Alien Ruins on the south of Apshai then you have to declare war on the Vau.

Rectified, must have missed it on the first pass. Late night editing is not a good idea it seems.

I'm alright for whatever stipulations you want regarding rebels on Vau worlds. You guys want me to assemble something on NPC ownership and interactions?

Turn sent.

Newspaper "Pravda" is the most popular source of news on the Decados worlds. The last issue has reached the peak sales - since it has many important political articles.

Page 7-9, The Shadow Over Severus.
This article uncovers the mystery over Severus blockade. Author states that the reason of quarantine was the invasion of alien race in the jungles of the south hemisphere. Using the current empire instability they gathered warriors from subterranean lairs and seized control of the most human cities in the hemisphere. A few remaining villages under Decados reign are now greatly fortified and are relatively safe. A few battle groups are formed and soon they will clean the jungles of the invaders. To aid in this mission Vladimir Decados invited his old allies - battle brothers of De Moley. They have already dropped their elite space legions and now they are seeking through the region to find and banish alien invaders.

Page 14-15, All Quiet On The Faith Front.
This article tells about Battle Brother order of De Moley and their relations with House Decados. The most interesting information is presented in the end - it says that according to the recent agreement House Decados is allowed to expand their outpost on the De Moley world, while Battle Brothers will also aid in annihilation of alien invaders on planet Severus. Other details are unknown. At the conclusion author questions the true motives of the treaty.

Very good roleplaying, and for clarification the aliens on Severus are the indigenous insectoid alien race the Ascorbite that usually work with the Decados but sometimes strike out when their jungle habitat are infringed upon.  So, technically the humanity was the alien invaders on Severus. haha  :D

When humanity spread throughout the Known Worlds during the Diaspora they only met three space faring races the Ukari, the Obun, and the Vau.  The Ukari lost a war against humanity and were subjugated, the Obun were pacifist and never really explored the stars, and well the Vau just kicked humanity in the butt.

The rest of the alien races (Ascorbite, Etyri, Gannock, Shantor, Vorox, etc.) never reach advanced levels and were subjugated by the more advanced colonizing humans.

Yes, just send the Church 5000 golden firebirds as a gift in your diplomacy game screen and the transaction is complete.
