Hm. If I remember right, you can only have 1 Trap Dustshoot in your deck. Is that a newer rule?

Yeah I think at this stage it is still unlimited, I might be wrong though.

Name: Ryoichi Kita
Age: 17
Appearance: He has an average figure with slightly long hair that is brown with a hint of red.  He wears a gray shirt under a dark blue jacket and moderately worn jeans.  He has a studded leather bracer on his right arm.
Backstory: He is from a lower middle class family, but he rarely speaks about them.  He currently lives in a rundown apartment away from his hometown, due to...various circumstances.  He came to the tournament as he was within the area and decided to see what the game that had caused several advances in holographic technology was about.  He is somewhat of an inventor, but he has not attempted to sell any of what he has created as they have the potential to be easily adapted by various criminals to do...various different things that have nothing to do with why he left his hometown and why no one is looking for him.  That has something to do with...other things.  He doesn't desire to talk about what had caused him to leave.  He will talk about how he got to here...somewhat.

Honestly, with my job I might not have been able to run the game too effectively for long, especially as in less than a week I'm headed down on a family trip to Florida...then there's me not having any plot to go on besides one or two things...

Hmmm...could you attempt a restore of the Torn City game?  I've been pretty much in 'zone out everything' mode due to work and it may help in getting my mind out of that mire and allow me to actually be able to construct a plot.

I don't really like how I set that game up sadly.The tournament format with so many people was a bad idea and I don't like how I set up the card rarities as everyone has an endgame deck from the beginning and it becomes very hard to actually design decks that will give a challenge.

To start with yeah, we just have some packs from the first series. I think if the game carries on though we'll get packs from the later ones.

Should note that the setting of this is in the time between Duelist Kingdom and Battle City, just for a frame of reference if people want to expand upon their backstories.  Going to be going by the Manga in terms of what occurred before Duelist Kingdom.

You could narrow down the number of duels by having a few of the players duel each other in the second round and have people make their decks less end-game by changing around the cards that haven't been seen yet.
