Can't slaughter animals?
« on: June 13, 2015, 11:28:32 am »

Hey there. I am a simi-new player to DF and am having some issues getting my dwarfs to slaughter a few animals I have. I have the animals set to be slaughtered, a butchers work shop built, a dwarf set with the slaughter privilege, and auto-slaughter set in my workshop orders but nothing is happening. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks!

Is the path from the animal to the butcher shop blocked? Are the animals in cages?

- Is the butcher busy doing other things?
- Is there a butcher job in the butcher workshop and at the jobs screen?
- I don't think caged animals have been an issue in the past, though.
- Are the animals pastures outside and you have forgotten to disable a civilian alert blocking dwarves from going outside after an attack?
- Have you double checked that the animals are designated for slaughter?

Found the problem, there was a tack in the butchers workshop that it was unable to complete. Thanks much! I spent all afternoon yesterday fighting with this issue.
