I think that it could be useful for an ant-woman or jumping-spider-man if they use a different weapon in each arm.

Hmmm, that makes sense. I'm guessing the skill exists to give powerful warriors a little bit of a buff should they be forced to fight with unfamiliar weapons.

Strange, I had thought it much more useful than such. Ah well.

Well, this is DF we're talking about. It probably factors in to combat in countless, inscrutable ways.

Alright, here's my update. I found an error in my point costs in the previous round - it only took 54 points to increase Cerol's Dodging (tiny) skill from Proficient to Adept, not 56. As a result, I had 14 points left over last round, not 12. I've made the corrections to his old stat block, here they are:

Spoiler: Corrected Old Stats (click to show/hide)

So this round, Cerol has double the 14 points left over from the previous round, plus 360 from being a crundle, for a total of 388 points to spend this round. I'll spend 346 points to improve his Dodging (tiny) skill from Adept to Grand Master.

Presenting!

Spoiler: Updated Stats (click to show/hide)
Logged
Finished: Weatherwires, the Last Mountainhome. A tragic mix of Children of Men, City of Ember, and, uh, magma.
Stymied: Correspondence from Syrupurns, a prematurely ended narrative, told through annual updates.
In Progress: Roomcarnage, a fortress clinging to life beneath a haunted glacier.

Looking at this makes me realise the real depth of the power gap between early and late game. A Crundle in the third round has at the very least 1080 points, whilst a Sasquatch would have 330, less than the crundle or gremlin in the very first round. Blimey charlie.

There is obvious balance needed. This will be worked on after the tourney.

I imagine it will be very difficult to balance as the bigger creatures are usually physically stronger yet the smaller creatures are usually more skilled.

Yes, balance is definitely needed. It might be as simple as narrowing the point gap between the largest and smallest races, and adjusting all others in between accordingly. Or perhaps smaller races would start out with more initial points, with equal point awards for winning matches.

Maybe around +150 plus whatever's saved (doubled) for each competitor? So there'd still be an advantage to being a little snot, which is to say more initial spendable/bankable points, but the big guys don't get shafted, and littleuns don't end up with grand master in two skills one round in.

I feel that 150 points would not be much. Having everyone have less points doesn't seem fun. I'm trying to find a way to balance that, but I always end up with impractical and overly complicated solutions.

Wow, what a beautiful set of matches!

Obviously, I particularly like how The Serpent King has been shaking everything in his path into delicious little pieces. Great job, xub313!

Surely Sath will be decloaked in the same manner!
