I really like the concept of alt-tournament with the eliminated gladiators, like the grand melee we did. It could keep things interesting during intermissions, and give more time to the arena master and the active gladiators to post results and level-up info. It also makes the fun last longer, which I don't mind ! Different style of games could be organized, like melee, 2v2, team vs huge monster, etc.

I'd consider it, but i have a weird timezone and little knowledge of the finer arts of the object arena.

Quick question because of... Reasons.

Would it be feasible to have a wild boar man, with nether-cap gloves, and this is the important bit, a bituminous coal maul that had been set alight. And if so, how much would that perchance set one back?

I believe I require Monty the Dark Gnome and Flakshed the Main-Man's upgrades. So FearsomeClarinet and DesolateDomain. I'd appreciate it if you were to post those soon.

Hope no one minds that I'll be waiting a day. I'd rather not purchase equipment for them, and I'll be very busy today anyhow.

Also, bump. C'mon people, don't hold up the murder train!

As far as I know.  Absolutely not, the only thing that cannot be done id the flaming maul, which I also think wouldn't make any difference in weapon effectiveness.

Ahh, pipe dreams. Well, i've got plenty of gladiators that aren't quite as absurd, stowed away for a rainy day.

Seriously though, grillpig.

What about setting up gladiators against actual monsters? Like, do you think all the losers could kill a dragon?

That battle royale was wonderfully gory. Good show, wot?

Kierran, you seriously don't die easy. I sort of envy you for that, hahaha!

It'll take more than a few shakes of the head to put Kieran down!

It's a shame he's always been on the receiving end of venom...I feel like venomous creaturemen need a bit of a nerf. One bite and they're pretty much home free.

My favorite highlight was when I cut Ajax's leg off...

and immediately got my own taken off by Kieran.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

DAMN YOU KIERAN!

As a sidenote, I lasted longer than I expected to. If Setro hadn't got the bite in, I would have lasted probably an extra few turns before I bled out anyways. Still, GG.

It's nice how my name is in ALL CAPS, it makes it easier to find my name!

EDIT:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I did enjoy how I was defending fairly well even with me guts on the ground. A true dwarf's death, much more respectable than my battle with Varick.

Also, I think I got the kill on Ajax... he bled out, but I'll say it was out of the hole where his leg used to be :P

(Sorry for the long post, hehe)

It was a good fight! The dwarves truly are a hardy race.

Depends because different venoms have much different effects. Armor also usually works well to deflect the attack.
Bark Scorpion venom for instance only causes strong pain, which sometimes doesn't seem to do much at all. Ran a simulation against a human male where he got stung three times and then just swung his sword decapitating his enemy. Many times the venom was only ever injected after the opponent had been immobilized.
Black mamba would be much worse causing Dizziness, Drowsiness, Strong pain, Fever, Unconsciousness, and Complete paralysis.
Platypus causes pain and swelling with possible necrosis.
Many times one shot by anyone can end up deciding the match whether it is poison or sword.

Team vs. Huge Monster sounds awesome! Two or three gladiators battling a hydra, it'd be great, like DF monster hunter.

Perhaps. On the other hand, the venom attack isn't likely to be used unless your character is completely unarmed.

But then it's as if the character is already starting with a weapon, and the rest can be dumped into skills. A human with less points pretty much needs to purchase a blade as well as skills
