Alrighty, so I'm thinking next tourney will see tiny creatures have their points scaled back a bit. And some buff to huge creatures as well, perhaps some scaling points as the tourney goes on so they do not fall behind so quickly?

I reckon that would be good! And if they already get a huge point bonus/penalty for being small/huge, does the dodge discount/markup really make sense? I might be overthinking that, but i dunno.

Well I wonder if maybe they could get away with doubling points more early on and relying on raw power before going into skilled combat/armor.

Scaling actually seems to defeat the risk of lower points bur more raw power.

I would adjust the points some, but idk about scaling over time. Maybe give tinies a bit less, huge a bit more; I'd agree with removing the dodge discount, except tinies won't fair exactly well on equal grounds as armor isn't as useful? It'd be worthwhile to see how somewhat rebalanced point amounts would work first.

I mean, we get hit, we go squish. Can't even use shields! :P

I do agree that the point difference is noticeable pretty quickly in dodge specialist tinies. Then again,  most players aren't building bigger chars similarly... it could be a deeper issue that hitting hard and fast is just deadly in inexperienced fighters in the game. Last game for example,  Varick got destroyed by another kobold with a more focused skillset. Specialists are very effective.

Anyway! Less tiny points, more huge points, sounds like a decent idea to me.

Ah yep, agreed. I didnt see the part about scaling when i read the post first time round, it seems like it might mess with stuff. Definitely more points for biggy mcSmashjaw, and a few less for Tiny macLegstabber

(sorry for the delay, my crappy narration took longer than I thought. :-[)

Howdy folks! and welcome to the first ever loser's battle royale! Yes, we'll be watching the worst of the worst. Each one of these 16 failures is here to die for your enjoyment. Lets bring 'em out!

Spoiler: gladiators (click to show/hide)

(going clockwise starting at the south end) Lucan Stone the Unbreakable, Obuesno Osnukngog the Troll, Dengu the Imaler, Ilpi AmberMead, Lumash Zatidar, THE BOAT MURDERER, Ajax the Manifold, Kieran the Killpocalypse, Setro of the Wicked Moon, Lady Varano the Proud, Uric of Battlefailed, Pok Pok, Phalanx, Snamozaspna, Strokodogaynkin, and last but not least, Silver Bull

Enough talking, Let's begin shall we.

There are simply too many combat logs to take screenshots of, and the log exceeds the character limit, so you'll have to view it here.

Right off the bat Strokodogaynkin launches an arrow right into Snamozaspna's chest. Good thing he had that copper breastplate or it would have likely pierced his heart. Well, bad for Strokodogaynkin, as Snamozaspna then promptly smashed his arm into pulp.

Meanwhile, Dengu confronts Obuesno, the monster sized troll. Has he bitten off more than he can chew? Apparently not! Dengu punches the troll right in the face with so much force the giant is knocked out!

Ajax and The Boat Murderer are dueling off in the northwest. Boat Murderer seems to be getting the upper hand when Kieran jumps in and chops Boat Murderer's foot off. The Boat Murderer continues to fight with Ajax while ignoring Kieran. He's surrounded, what else can he do?

With both Ajax and The Boat Murderer fallen, Kieran takes the opportunity for an easy kill. He slashes TBM across the belly, spilling his guts. But TBM just won't die! TBM continues to puts up a strong defence but is eventually decapitated by Kieran's steel long sword.

In the southeast, the bull and the moose face off. Neither of these gladiators carry weapons, both relying on their size and strength to deal damage. Both gladiators continue to try to gore the other with their horns but neither can deliver any serious blows.

Lumash and Dengu fight, but eventually  the little gremlin proves too much for Dengu and his foot is cut off. With Dengu fallen over, Lumash takes little time to cut off Dengu's head with his unbelievably sharp adamantine dagger.

Kieran finds another foe to fight, it's Setro of the wicked moon. It seems to be anyones game until Setro gets a bite on Kieran and injects his potent venom. Setro then begins to messily devour his meal.

Back in the southeast, Snamozaspna finally makes a fatal blow by ripping out Silver Bull's throat with his teeth! His victory is short lived however. Lumash, no longer preoccupied with Dengu, stabs Snamozaspna's antler, which is apparently extremely painful because he immediately passes out. It's no time before the gremlin finishes him off.

This whole time, Lady Varano, Uric, Pok Pok, and Phalanx have been trading blows but none of them serious. But finally things are happening. Pok Pok cuts of Varano's foot while Uric smashes Phalanx's leg. Both gladiators quickly finish their fallen opponents off. They then turn to fight each other.

Setro's meal is rudely interrupted by Lumash, who quickly slices Setro's head clean off. Those adamantine daggers are the real deal. Lumash then shanks Pok Pok and Uric without much opposition and is the last gladiator standing!

I'd even venture to say that Lumash murdalized most of them. Of course, in usually gremlin fashion, like a sneaky bastard. In up front honorable combat he couldn't beat someone like Sath.

That battle royale was wonderfully gory. Good show, wot?

Kierran, you seriously don't die easy. I sort of envy you for that, hahaha!

My favorite highlight was when I cut Ajax's leg off...

and immediately got my own taken off by Kieran.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

DAMN YOU KIERAN!

As a sidenote, I lasted longer than I expected to. If Setro hadn't got the bite in, I would have lasted probably an extra few turns before I bled out anyways. Still, GG.

It's nice how my name is in ALL CAPS, it makes it easier to find my name!

EDIT:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I did enjoy how I was defending fairly well even with me guts on the ground. A true dwarf's death, much more respectable than my battle with Varick.

Also, I think I got the kill on Ajax... he bled out, but I'll say it was out of the hole where his leg used to be :P

(Sorry for the long post, hehe)

Oh awesome, my Strokodog was the first one killed. Archers really don't do well in these tournaments, do they?

Naw, I think One Bow Juan from before did well? Also, archers might want misc objects user for meleeing with their bows. Crossbow users might be a superior choice.

And if you'd like to know, your kobold actually won the royale while I was trying it, though my gif stuff kept crashing.

On the note of bow meleeing, apparently that falls under the umbrella of Swordsdwarfship.

Yeah, I think crossbows in melee are treated as hammers and bows as swords. Last tournament, there was a guy that shot another guy in the tooth.
