You decide to call the new design Leaf Bots, as one name works as well as any other. Our nature means there is little difficulty distinguishing; names simply make data storage more aesthetically pleasing. It is strange, that such would be a consideration for Us. But perhaps there is sense in it. Ease and speed of assessing the situation may prove crucial to Our survival, at some point. They are...useful, but not immediately. They produce only as much power directly as is necessary for functionality; all else is put to use transforming carbohydrates into the more energy dense hydrocarbons for storage. The oxygen produced is stockpiled to enable more efficient energy production in Our other Bots. They produce more energy overall than Our other Bot types, but they are ill-suited for some tasks as a result.
After some analysis, You determine that it would be prudent for Us to determine Our immediate surroundings. We have sufficient energy supplies to do so easily, after all. By the time the light is reaching the time at which it begins to fade completely, We have learned much about the area, and scraped materials from the crystallized water underneath us. We were on a frozen surface of water, surrounded by large drifts of frozen water, and large, presumably dead organisms that stretched upwards. If there is anything We should do before the darkness falls and We must preserve power, now is the time to do so.
Stirling Engines are currently beyond Our capabilities, partially due to a lack of temperature differential. Most Bots contain some innate thermionic capability, however.
