I made bread before, first time round they were not distinguishable from hockey pucks or a piece of wood with a thin layer of crust.

As a pastry chef, I can say that breadmaking is definitely a skill that takes some learning.  I very nearly failed my bread final in culinary school :/

There's actually a lot of things that would make "bread" if you grind it up into flour, first.  Yams and taro, for example, can make a type of bread.  It wouldn't have the same consistency as wheat bread, of course.  (Actually, sweet potato bread makes a much softer, sweeter bread, although it has that annoying sickly sweetness that makes me not like sweet potatoes in the first place...)

I already did. But go ahead, we're all waiting upon your interpretation, keep in mind we're not given any idea of what these one eyed brutes look like other than they have one eye, they're a brute and they're about 4x the size of a dorf.

In addition, could also try to give the meat a different "texture" if that makes sense.  I know fish looks quite rather different compared to steak.  Also as mentioned by Minty, color is another good way to go about it.

That's what a one-eyed brute looks like. The feathers and antennae would be removed, since this is just the meat.
