I'm going to do your mega booze-persimmon-leaf-cherry roast. Too.

It's about 85% composed of leaves, so I presume it's a huge salad...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There you go.  I didn't feel like making a dwarf to inspect, comment on, or eat it.

All I have to say is:

Booze as soup stock was the best idea ever.

Also, those are awfully large cherries.

Maybe they're the persimmons?

Anyway, not as crazy as one would expect, but maybe it's just pulling from a giant bowl of "utterly random ingredient tossed salad"...

Presumably, booze (or rather, beer,) is the salad dressing.

Breakfast in my fortress: Purple amaranth bread toast.
Post-breakfast drink: Purple amaranth beer.
Lunch in my fortress: Purple amaranth leaf salad.
Dinner in my fortress: Turkey egg omelettes with purple amaranth beer and cherries for flavor.

Meanwhile, I have a stack of something like 300 plump helmets my brewer and cook won't touch for some odd reason.

Well, to keep the well from running dry, I've been getting a lot of roasts like this, lately:

+Guinea hen egg+
*Turkey hen egg*
-Blue peafowl meat-
*Hen egg*

or

+Quarry bush leaf+
*Giant Tortoise meat*
+Hen egg+
-Turkey hen egg-

I'm guessing my cook REALLY likes omelettes, because I'm sitting on over a thousand plants which are running out of seeds rapidly.

(And yes, I have a *hen egg roast [45]* consisting entirely of eggs from four different types of bird. I presume the cook just started making scrambled eggs, and never stopped.)

Ok, I have one. An exquisite Yeti Heart Roast.

Yeti Heart
Yeti Meat
Dwarven Syrup
Whipvine Flour

When I saw that one, I just sort of pictured some weird meaty pancake. Apparently it was quite a delicacy of that particular glacier fort.... at least till the yetis went extinct.

I see a breaded Yeti heart.  The flour and syrup are mixed, made into a batter. and the meat dipped into it.

So I went through my stocks screen, and it turns out, with the exception of a couple stragglers held by my military, all my remaining prepared foods are made of eggs.  (I've made limited prepared meals to keep wealth down.)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I feel like it's a Monty Python skit at this point.

Old woman dwarf: "What do you have here?"

Cook: "Well, we have the turkey egg roast with turkey meat, quarry bush leaf, bayberry, and turkey hen eggs. Or, there's the hen egg roast with persimmon, tortoise spleen, plump helmets, and hen eggs.  Then there's the OTHER hen egg roast with tortoise tallow, turkey hen egg, chicken hen egg, and more turkey hen egg."

Old woman dwarf: "Do you have anything without eggs in it?"

Cook: "Well, how about trying the oat flour roast? It has hen eggs, a leaf, a berry, eggs, another berry, eggs, and some oat flour!"

Old woman dwarf: "That has eggs in it!"

Cook: "No it doesn't."

Old woman dwarf: "Yes it does, you said it three times!"

Cook: "Well, how about the turkey hen egg roast?  It has eggs, eggs, eggs, tortoise lung, eggs, eggs, eggs, and eggs."

So you take the Yeti Meat and put it through a grinder, then stuff the resulting ground Yeti into the hollowed out heart, making a sort of beefy... organ.

Roll that in some syrup. Make sure to get it all over. Yeti meat is mildly spicy, so the light tang of Dwarven syrup works best here, though other syrups may be used. once the heart is lightly covered in sticky syrup, dust it with whipvine flour to really bring out that spicy taste. Bake for thirty minutes in a authentic wood oven on low heat, and serve before it turns cold.
