Huh, so it is starting today. I was thinking it was starting on the 15th.

Well, I just started watching now and they're talking about Fallout 4 (I assume) and they were talking about a dog fetching items for you then the slowdown auto aim thing they made because the original fallout games were turn based I guess.

Now they're talking about the Pip Boy, for reference.

I'm likely the only person ever who is not really interested in Fallout 4, but that might just be because I wasn't really into Fallout 3 (though I've never really played New Vegas, soo.)

EDIT: The real-live "pip boy" thing they just showed is interesting, but everyone's just going to be hitting the pause button anyways.

Oh boy, two shitty freemium mobile game spinoffs!
The Fallout one isn't freemium. Random loot boxes are just there to drain money from gambling addicts and people with no self control. Building, for example, is instant -- build timers and reducing them is the single biggest trick of real freemium.

I know. The accusation of freemiumness was a knee-jerk reaction and I feel bad for saying it now.

Anyway, there were a few misses (Weeb Fortress 2, Hearthstone: Heroes of Tamriel) but the combination of Dishonored 2, Doom, and especially Fallout 4 was the most exhilarating thing I've watched in my life.

Yeah, watching that FO4 footage was practically a montage of things that we hated about earlier Bethesda games being thrown out with the rubbish, and a heap of cool new content on top. If the next Elder Scrolls looks as good as this and they don't try any funny business with paid mods, I might forgive them entirely for that fiasco.

Out of curiosity, what unpopular features of older Bethesda games are you talking about? I can think of several but I can't see what specific issues you're talking about.

  • Bloody awful character appearance customizer.
  • Fucking terrible dialogue interface, which covers a whole range of issues.
  • Ten metric tons of junk items with literally no purpose.

Those are the universal ones. Here are some others:
  • "Armor is just one item plus boots, gloves, and a hat, right?"
  • The crafting interface isn't a mess of scrolling menus.
  • You can actually do things with your equipment beyond repairing it now.
  • They bothered to make the PipBoy look decent.
  • From the look of things, at least some of the wildlife isn't going to be randomly wandering around in the open waiting for you to snipe it.
  • HUD coloring and fonts that don't look completely awful (FO specific here).
  • VATS isn't perfect paused time any more, thank goodness -- might not even need a mod for bullet time any more.
  • Sure it was their big public debut, but it looked, in terms of graphics, lighting, &c., genuinely good.

Stuff like that.

They're going to show Doom and then I'll decide if I am going to buy a new PC.

Well, I guess my computer can still last a year or two...

Uploaded it to Youtube. Might have been beaten to it, but ah well. Took ages for it to finally upload xD

Eh, I took a look at the doom reveal, and I'd say it looks like a doom game at least. If my comp can run it I might get it when it goes on sale for RIP AND TEAR

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

They got the gameplay right, I especially love seeing enemies drop health packs keeping the action going instead of running off for health. But the artistic direction is really butt ugly, my only souvenirs of the two gameplay trailer were good fights inside a blob of grey goo and you can barely tell the guns apart. The only exciting asset was the super shotgun.

Edit: Fallout 4 on the other hand...
