64bit. The drivers are all fully updated and rarely make trouble.

I guess I could build a 32 bit version, but... nobody uses that anymore  :P

you might be able to upgrade to windows 10 and get 64bit for free.... or is it a 32bit cpu to begin with?

Just curious if there's been any progress. Love the idea, and can't wait to see where you take it.

Good luck, and may the Omnissiah bless your coding.

So this isn't dead, I have still been working on it, but just slowly.  I don't want to upload anything that really hasn't made any significant progress, so it may be awhile until the next one.

The Emperor's been waiting for 10,000 years. We can definitely wait for this :)

Just a photo of Regimental Commander, my super-in-progress not-really-a-game which Puzzlemaker expressed interest in collaboration on.

I can post a download to the current if anyone's absolutely desperate to sit and watch a big number go down slowly. (There's a lot going on behind the scenes actually, but due to my cluelessness with multi-file coding, my cluelessness with C#, and my cluelessness with Unity, a lot of it doesn't work, doesn't work as intended, or you don't get to see.)

The way I plan on doing planet combat is almost like billiard balls... each unit has a sphere of influence, and when two opposing spheres touch they battle until one is pushed back, or something like that.

That being said, it's a pain in the ass to develop what basically amounts to two games at once, one space game and one planetside game.  So if you want, I can send you what I have to look at, and maybe we can split the work somewhat.

I've definitely focused entirely on the groundside battles because they're easier because they seem like the real meat of any good Guard simulator.

My experimental has run into an amusing bug where the enemy numbers slightly increase in the first tick of combat, then drop from ~400,000 to -9 trillion with no Guard casualties at all, resulting in instant victory.

Combat is /screwy/.

The current iteration of the game is pretty much too bad to even be released (I haven't worked out how to get multiple code files to interact, so the entire "game"(a sim right now really) is controlled by one c# file.

i'm thinking that for the next iteration I try and make, I'll focus more on the large-scale battle, with having a map, loci (cities), and maybe even trying to make a "Front" system.

Alright, lets make this happen.  I am going to be doing a Hackathon next weekend, and I am doing planning sessions this weekend, so I probably wont get as much done as I want, like usual.  PM me an e-mail and I can send you some things.

I'm squealing like a little squid at the prospect of a team up! My only request would be to try and start the project with modding/collaboration as a cornerstone or modularising it sufficiently to allow a number of people to work on different parts.
Even if it's just having all names, numbers and graphics JSON-ised for easy editing, it'd allow other people to help balance what will probably be a pretty numbers heavy game.

I'd be potentially up for helping out in a week or two after I move house - keep us informed of the progress!

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

Yep, sent you a copy of the project via e-mail and PMed you more stuff.  I am on eastern time, BTW.  What IRC do you want to use?

While progress on the actual game has slowed down a lot for me, here's a picture of the title-screen to make people happy.
