Map-gen fun
« on: March 20, 2008, 10:30:00 am »

Nice worlds or interesting features created with unmodded worldgenerator.

Currently trying to generate a map aptly called "the Eternal Planet" [257:129]rs. It is currently past 9K rejects. I think I will let it run for another half hour or so...

Sounds like the infinite rejection bug, do you have version 38c?  (Though it might still crop up there, it got fixed for me though)

You may be right. Stopping at 15000.
The download is called 38c, the map-gen file says it's 38b though.

Anyhow, I'm trying to create a region with realistic sized oceans.
With continents in stead of land-locked seas.

I fear some modding might be required to alter the land-height preference of the generator.

got a nice standard map with a huge evil ocean.
the infinite rejection seems endemic to maps twice as wide as high.
square maps normally work fine as well as maps more than double the width.
Seems there is a seed problem, as the names are limited in variety too, almost always "enchanted world" or "something plains".

BELAY THAT, strip-shaped maps have major sprawl issues. [257:65] Including circular blot cities 4 areas wide, but with only one site per area.

Deleting current (region) and restarting game does the trick...I think.
