For those of us who play the Ultimate Apocalypse mod; there is a patch that has just been released. Version 1.81.0, this link goes to Lord Cylarne's video about the update with links in the description.

Patch notes are listed below. This is from the TXT file after installing:

Oh hey look, Necrons get all kinds of buffs to power generation. I mean, finally, now they will become actually playable. #Kappa

I dunno, I kinda get that Necrons were slow builders even in vanilla but getting over the powergap without getting steamrolled early game was tough.

Thank you for the vespid nerfs, fucking bullshit jumpers tagging your leaders to instant death.

Second patch they did, they were suppose to do a global buff making them essential in building.

Another patch has been released. Version 1.81.29. Link in the description of the Youtube video.

The biggest change: Turrets require zone of control to build, though they do produce a small area of their own.
Other things that seem interesting; Spore Mines for Tyranids do less damage and cost more, Hive Guard can be joined by Tyranid heroes, Great Pyramid damage against most enemies decreased (I would assume this is the auto-shots it fires rather than the nuke).

There's also a new win condition: Kill Count. Sounds like you can set a battle to be a victory when you kill a certain number of enemies.

Call me casual but I never liked how rushing someone with basic units opening a path for workers to build line of turrets on their back and directly in your face is a valid tactic. Still, with this change, this tactic doesn't go away completely... but if you fall victim to it it's at least almost certainly due to you playing bad enough instead of just lacking the micro your turret-rushing opponent has. So yeah, I'm liking this patch.

As for kill count - might be interesting, you could play a "defend the base" type of game. Pick symmetrical map with heavily defensible positions on one side, put one or 2 insane AI Tyranids one the other... and hold the line! Yeah, that could be cool!

edit: There seems to be some problems with download links though. If you see file that's ~90 KB big, don't get that one. The surest way seems to be to follow "changelog" YouTube link and choose one of the dl links in video description. Should be about 12 MB.
I just hope that faulty file wasn't something really bad though. :\

S'definitely going to make forming decent bulwarks against the AI significantly more difficult on a lot of maps, at the least. Being able to set up defenses on a whim (and, more importantly, before the AI breaks out and starts edging towards out of control) around the big circle things or choke points that otherwise didn't have control points nearby was one of the better ways to keep them under control, and the change is going to make that fairly significantly more difficult.

Mortars! Basilisks! Baneblades! AHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Like actually though, that's a fairly winning combination if you've got a couple of infantry units to support it.

Heres a good question though, how does the AI react if you built walls around your stuff? Would they consider it a primary target and attack it at first sight or would go after your defense turrets or production buildings?

I believe they attack the walls, even if under attack from turrets behind the walls. I would guess they consider walls as being similar to barracks or similar buildings. Jump units may still move straight for your command centre from what I've seen.

If thats the case I might have to implement that more into my slow tactics then. Standard AI I still beat with the changes but Hard AI fucking steamrolls you in an instant you hit second tier.
