Fun mods for 0.42?
« on: June 02, 2015, 02:00:48 pm »

Hey guys,

I've been playing Genesis exclusively when 0.34 was the latest version, but it was abandoned by the creator (I know it has been rewritten, but still, no content) What is the best adventure mode mod that doesn't f up the lore too much? Not really into steampunk/postapocalypse mods.

Thanks in advance.

Wow, you're playing version 0.42 already?  And aren't you the guy who was playing version 0.37 before?

What did you do that lets you play all these unreleased versions of DF Toady doesn't give the rest of us?!  :P

Anyway, if you want something interesting that doesn't "f up the lore too much", then Modest Mod or Masterwork are probably your best bets.  Unless you're looking for "bigger monster" mods, that is...

I have to agree with Putnam here. I've got nothing against Masterwork, but it's a looooong way from vanilla DF.

Well, in the OP, it was followed by "Not really into steampunk/postapocalyptic", and the thing the OP seems to be looking for is something like Genesis, which had, IIRC, dwarves that have super combat skills and regenerate like Wolverine, so there seems to be more flexibility in what "fing up the lore" means than most.

Also, asking about adventure mods, which Masterwork is not.

I think Dark Ages would be good for this.

Agree with Putnam about adventure mod. ;) Current Masterwork for 40.x is unfinished, altough maybe more fitting for OP since it's smaller atm. So far Fortress mode only.

I've had my time machine repaired at the wrong station, god dammit  :-\

I might have mislead some of you, I meant setting, not lore; though you already figured that out :) For DF I'm into medieval, possibly with magics and fun races. I'll check out the Dark Ages mod Putnam suggested.

EDIT: The sole description sold me COMPLETELY. It's Genesis mod on steroids created by aliens.
