With all the work you put in?

D20+2 D8+D4= 17 + 8 + 5 + 4 = 340bc.

You can chip in with the Kai part of the fleet to hit 790bc, or just buy a pretty nice ship to contribute.

Enough to buy and arm the Juggie, or to make a very nasty Waller. Or whatever, there's really a lot you can do with the money to have a proper fleet.

Tack on a carrier or a few light cruisers, lol.

I almost want to make an Octav/Rift escort fleet for the Kai. Did we ever work out how Octav Gunships will work mechanically?

Also, if no one has noticed, Rift Small Ships are really good. Stealthy as fuck, they can do micro hyper jumps just fine, even can just do it to get the shit out of dodge, pretty damn fast (990g Interceptors; only Synthetics have faster(Synthetic Sentient Ships are all amazing, of course, though pricey) and even they can't hyper)...I didn't realize how good of a 'carrier doctrine' I would end uo giving them.

So what kinda things can I get for 340, do ya think, Ross?

You've probably already answered this question, I know. :P

If I make a big ship, it's gonna be CoM, because fight to the end and never give up. And also cost-effective.

Wasn't it 25 for Medium, 55 for Large, and 115 for Huge? From what I recall, it was "only one Huge Gun-naught was ever built because it's so honking big"?

25/35/55 might be more reasonable. Range, we didn't really decided, but for a long range," slow " energy weapon it should be at least a minute if not more.

Me? I'd buy a pair of Octav  Pocket Cruisers, slap a good energy weapon (Kai origin, perhaps?) cheap Rift EM and decent sensors. Shouldn't cost too much more than 120 or so. With the leftover 220, buy a Rift Parasite Carrier, and give it a pair of machine shops, electronics labs, and if you can convince the Admiral to contribute 5% towards your part, buy a Mining module so you have a nice repair craft for the fleet. Or maybe you can afford that if you're Rift.

With hyper capable small craft, you can speed them into combat, join with the fleet until the first missile round or certain hit probability, then hyper the hell out of Dodge when the big missiles go flying because a Carrier has absolutely no business in missile combat, much less energy.  After the battle, fix ships and gather parts. Maybe trade some of the Marines barracks for Hospital/Cryo Capacity, if you are going that route.

Either way the Kai players go, it's a respectable fleet.

we've just been discussing what ships are good for the price we have available.

Perhaps a recap of who has what to spend would help. I'd do this, but it would immediately change when ebbor gets his funds. The ship list, including a lot of information, is in the OP.

With five players, maybe a mid-high range ship, a decent carrier, and those stealth ships would work. If Rolep goes with the race he mentioned, I might use a different race as well.

As far as missions go: I figured we'd decide that after we figured what our fleet looked like. Of course, knowing our racial makeup and motivations would help. I we're going as slavers, that kinda narrows the focus pretty considerably, for instance.
