Challenging to a Duel
« on: May 31, 2015, 06:40:55 pm »

Currently there is no way in adventure mode to begin a fight in an honorable manner.  Therefore, I suggest that a new dialogue option called "Challenge to duel" (or something of the like) be added under the make demand tab or a new one that challenges to different kinds of challenges.

It could also be a dialogue option, that when chosen, opens up a menu like the one for sneaking. In the menu, the player will choose the rules for the fight such as: "No Quarter", "Lethal", "Non-Lethal", "Brawl", and "Spar".  It could also be used to decide whether or not allies can join in or that you have a double to take over if you could no longer fight. Also, it could be used to set the stakes of the duel. This could range from the death of the opponent to the disbandment of ,say, a group of bandits, or even the loss of material possession.

If a system like this were implemented, taking care of the troubles of your affiliated group can be done in a more honorable way than walking behind the bandit leader and having him "misplace" his head. People will think of you less as a killer and more of a champion of good.

Well, you *can* walk up to the bandit leader, remove a glove, and slap him in the face with it.
Plus, if the glove happens to be an iron gauntlet, it can help out for when his friends so very *dishonorably* decide to jump on you immediately upon him receiving your challenge, he might just die from the slap.

More seriously, though... I like this idea. I get the feeling that it'd be necessary to fiddle with the ethics, because I don't suppose everyone would fight honorably. In fact, I would be extremely disappointed if everyone did.

Of course, being bandits, if they're not already hostile, it's because you're behind him;

This would be great, I could root out criminal organisations with impunity, without savescumming. This would be the best, especially if the "duel" dialogue option would tell you more about somebody, revealing demons, thieves, kidnappers, telling you if you have no moral justification for killing them, etc.

Truly, sir, you have held yourself with honor, the weight of which reduced his head to an unrecognizable mass.
