The Third Class: D&D-esque Science Fiction (4/4 Players)
« on: May 30, 2015, 06:49:29 pm »

(My "Dungeons and Dragons" group has pretty much disbanded, but I don't want to waste the work I put into the campaign setting.)

On the planet Earth, there is a rigid social hierarchy. At the top, the Hymnal Clan, an ethnic group including five aristocratic families which own and govern everything on the planet. Then the Dirge Clans, various clans which have been conquered and enslaved by the Hymnal Clan throughout its history. They serve as police, military, and skilled laborers in dangerous occupations. The Hymnal Clan considers them expendable. At the very bottom of this hierarchy are the original inhabitants of the planet: the humans.

They serve their reptilian overlords as livestock. Humans are worked to death in dangerous conditions, then ground into mincemeat and consumed by Dirge or especially poor Hymnal. There are many humans left on the planet, as human farms are especially lucrative businesses. It has never occurred to any reptilian that there are more humans than Hymnal, until now.

The Game:
The system is very loosely based on D&D and the D20 system. It is generally focused much more on the story and characters than numbers and rules.
The setting is science fiction with a few fantasy elements. The planet described above is going to be going through a revolution. Whether the party chooses to join the revolution, or escape to another planet after accruing a small fortune, is up to the players.

That's great. As for Wisdom based skills, I'd say that an 18 warrants Minor Telepathy or Minor Suggestion. Minor Telepathy would be the ability to read thoughts that are projected into words or actions. Basically a Universal Translator and Sense Motive. Minor Suggestion would be a slightly weaker version of the 3.5 spell Suggestion. They're both pretty good as far as magic goes in this setting. Most people are unaware of magic, and it is extremely rare. The character may not even be aware that their talent is supernatural in nature.

Actually, that's a nice IC reason why my character was taken from the farm for special 'training'.

I'd imagine our lizard overlords might enjoy exotic meats.

I don't have the time to correct the post atm, tho...sorry...will do so late...

Fixed my sheet.

Anyway, are we going to wait for a fourth player or just get started soon with three?
