Awesome. That's a pretty varied and interesting party. I originally planned to do this as play-by-post, but if we could figure out schedules to play on something like roll20 that would be great. Whatever you guys want to do.

Aye, PBP is best for me.

I don't tend to do well in roll20 and the like anyway.

What they said.

We shot down that idea pretty fast, didn't we? :P

Alright, I guess we can start then.

You guys add this stuff to your character sheets:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Party:
There is a skirmish ongoing between a resistance cell and the police in City 39. Two resistance members have had the misfortune to be captured by two Dirge police. Those Dirge police had the misfortune to immediately run into an ex-convict with a gun and a big guy carrying a stolen sword.

The Officers stand at the end of the dead-end alley, near Elijah and Joan. Elijah and Joan are in handcuffs, which Elijah could probably get out of if he tried. Kraj and Zhur stand about 15 meters away, at the only entrance to the alley. The Officers seem worried, but have not drawn their weapons. They demand that the two Dirge provide identification. The Dirge can can clearly see that the humans will win this battle. Freeing these prisoners might lead to safe passage around or out of the city after the resistance takes it.

Enemies:
Officer PiecesMutant
Weapon:Pistol
Worried(Not attacking)

Officer FatRastling
Weapon:Cattle Prod
Worried(Not attacking)

"Let me handle this, if you will, please..." Kraj rasps quietly to his companion.

He walks towards the officers, a smile worthy of the Dirge smearing itself over his face. "Officers! I see you happen to be taking care of these unruly beasts. Why waste your time with the pair of us? Don't you need to get down to headquarters? I mean, why would you really need to bother such fine citizens as ourselves? We're all Dirge here, after all..."

The entire time he spoke, voice smooth and unthreatening, he approached them, hands up. He lowered them, his face elongating, as he came to point-blank range.

"I...do suppose you must do your duty. Very well. Here is my ID, officers."

And then he drew the pistol he had been reaching for, trying to make it appear as though he were merely pulling out a wallet or card, and shot the officer with a gun in the head.

Then he pointed it at the other one, presumably as his 'buddy' approached.

"This is my friend. His name is Klar. Say hello, Klar. * Klar is a special type of Dirge. He never liked humans. Too stringy. He always preferred something with a bit more substance. Like other Dirge. And he's been rather hungry lately. Your friend, now, he might satisfy Klar by himself, but if Klar has to fight, then he's going to be even hungrier. And he does like the taste better...fresh. But, if you just put your weapon down, and run along, nobody else has to get eaten."

*The point where, presumably, Zhur says hello.

Elias leans over to his comrade and whispers "Crap, more Dirge. Come on, let's get out of here while they're distrac-"
Rudely interrupted by gunfire, he continues.
"Ya, I'm not staying. I'll get those cuffs off you once we're clear."
Elias makes a break for it down an alley, or around a corner, while removing the cuffs.

Joan was quiet, waiting, watching. Be careful. Act quickly...not time to die, yet...not tonight...had to get away...they might know who she was...a dead slave...it would be easy to give up...Maver wouldn't want you to give up...keep fighting...

She wasn't surprised by the gunfire, and showed no reaction. The approaching Dirge's intentions had been clear to her-their minds blared pale red and dark yellow with desire for violence.

Elias leans over to his comrade and whispers "Crap, more Dirge. Come on, let's get out of here while they're distrac-"

She looked into the mind of the skinny man handcuffed next to her and saw confidence...she thought he might even be enjoying this, somewhat. Odd. Her dark blues eye grew even darker, almost black for a moment-though one might be able to attribute it to a passing shadow...

"...I follow you..." She said quietly to him, cocking her head to one side as if coughing.

Action: Read the minds of the officers to see if I can 'hear' anything interesting...I assume I can do this without alerting them? Also, is my telepathy one way or two way? Consider this my telepathy test!

Anyway, follow Elias once the guns go off.

Kraj:
You approach the officers.(15+2) They appear to follow your reasoning, and become less worried. Their hands move away from their respective weapons. You draw and fire on the officer with the gun.(8+3)(1+2 damage) The officer falls, unable to reach his weapon. He is bleeding heavily from his leg.(1+4Critical failure) The other officer is offended by your threats.

Joan:
You wonder at the thoughts and actions of these officers.(18+2) You know their names, their long-term motivations, and their thoughts. PiecesMutant is concerned about his career and really doesn't need another demerit. FatRastling has a clutch of hatchlings to feed, and seems to think that he could get a promotion if he brought in 2 armed prisoners and 2 terrorists. They are not conscious of your intrusion. You run with Elias. You run out onto the street. It is empty. Elias removes his own cuffs and thinks about the next course of action. He has not removed your cuffs.

Elias:
You run down the alley. You pass the Dirge as they deal with the officers. Joan runs with you. You run out onto the street. The street is dead quiet. The wind scatters the debris of a recent riot. You try to pick your cuffs.(9+2) The cuffs fall off of your hands. There doesn't seem to be anyone left outside in this district other than you, Joan, the 2 Dirge, and the officers. The resistance is probably still fighting in the Downtown region but the nearest city gate is in the opposite direction. You could escape to the nearest resistance weapons cache in the desert and rearm before coming back, or just join the fight and hope your comrades have spare equipment. You also haven't removed Joan's cuffs yet.

Enemies:
Officer PiecesMutant
Weapon:Pistol
Bleeding, disabled

Officer FatRastling
Weapon:Cattle Prod
!Enraged!

FatRastling attacks Kraj with his cattle prod!(5+3) Kraj easily steps out of the way.

((Still with us, Harry?))

"Agh, damnit. I was -gah- hoping we could be friends, too," Kraj mutters as he backs up hurriedly, trying to fire again, aiming for center of mass just as he'd been taught. He'd had to fire hurriedly with the first shot, to make sure he could even get one off. Now he was just worried about getting electrocuted.

Once out of sight, Elias pops the cuffs off of Joan.
"We need to get out of here. Let's head to the desert and meet back up with the rest."

((Still with us, Harry?))

((Whoops, was going to post and forgot.))

Zhur, for his part, completely fails to understand that Kraj meant him in his attempt to intimidate this lot, being a little disoriented by him suddenly opening fire, and looks with visible confusion to his side to see if there was another Dirge in the vicinity that Kraj might have mentioned, and whether he'd be likely to try and bite him or something. He nearly raises his hands in surrender, seeing nothing else to do in the situation.

However, before he can do so, a much better idea dawns on him.

Stab the officers. And stab that Klar as well if I can see him. He sounds terrible. And maybe punch Kraj in the face if the situation fails to become any clearer and it seems like Klar is waiting for his signal, then run after the humans.
