A Firaxis Employee has clarified how the Ruler movement works. It is simultaneously both better and worse than we imagined ._.

Also in a different comment chain he says that soldiers in concealment don't give it turns

EDIT:
Quote
I'm glad you said this because now I get to tell you all something horrible. Selecting End Turn gives the Ruler 1/2 the remaining unused action points, so they get to string together a bunch of actions in a row.
Also, engaged aliens know where revealed soldiers are. I would imagine in the case you described, the Alien Ruler would seek out the Sniper or any other revealed soldiers.

*Meep*

I have complicated feelings about how the Ethereals managed to breed aliens that are quite literally several factors more powerful than themselves.

I'm assuming the DLC will have an Avatar ruler for the final mission, to give the final battle an actual final boss.

Dude. Are you suggesting they make the final mission even harder?

YES.

e: A better idea. Skulljacking a codex the first time activates an Avatar ruler, that ends up appearing in the final mission if you can't kill it by then. You find a normal avatar instead of a sectopod/gatekeeper on the next alien facility mission, so you can do the autopsy. Completing Avatar Autopsy stops the Avatar ruler from showing up anymore until the final mission.

Anyone think that the armor is a bit macabre?

Your not stealing their technology... You are skinning them and wearing their skin on your body... without any modification except hemming.

Your Monster Hunting them.

And suddenly you realize the real reason why their armors can cause their races to panic.

To be fair you were kinda already doing that with the body requirements on other items you made.  Crysallid plating comes to mind as the most obvious one.

Yeah. You needed actual alien corpses to make items like that.

The whole damn game is macabre.  Half the enemies belong in a horror movie* and the alien's ultimate plan is pretty fucked up.  Albeit strangely understandable as video game villain motivations go.

*granted, the sectoid belongs in a hybrid horror movie/sex comedy.  Lewd ragdolls for days.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

Speaking of, note the genders of the rulers.

'zerkers were always female to Firaxis, you could have heard it in streams and such, and they have a Queen correspondingly.

Vipers have a king. Make of that what you will.

I just realized. What happens if you kill a Ruler during an Evac mission? Will we still get them like the codex brain?

I just realized my graphics were set at low and switched them to high.

My god, XCOM 2 is beautiful.
It even looks great at medium-high.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Confirmed by a dev: You get the body. They didn't want to lock you out of the DLC content through RNG.
