Your overwatch. Your soldiers will fire on friendlies during overwatch if said friendly is panicked and running. It's actually really annoying.
Um, I'm at least 70% certain that's some sort of oversight. Because if not what the fuck

I'm a bit salty because I lost one of my best and favourite Grenadiers on what was supposed to be an ok run, then I also lost a Specialist (that's what, the fourth one now?, they drop like flies it seems) to the same "Heavy cover from lower ground? What's that? Here, have 9 damage!" bullshit.
But I also just got plasma, so I guess it's time to return the favour.

Well, sometimes those 15% shots hit. And being on higher ground only gives you an aim bonus, not a def bonus as well, I think.

I'm fairly certain they gave a def bonus in the previous game. it was + 10 i think.
Not sure if they decided to keep that bonus in the sequel tho.

It was +10 defense if you had Damn Good Ground, otherwise zero.

Well presumably you being on higher ground gives the ayys an aim PENALTY, thus effectively providing defense.

Where does it say so? I haven't experienced that myself I think, though I am not sure if I bothered to look when I shot some ayy upstairs.

No, it was 10 extra defense in addition to the usual bonuses.

Yeah, I can't remember if I checked on it but it would be a logical thing to have. If you have bonuses for attacking from higher ground, it would realistically follow that there are penalties for attacking from lower ground. Will have to check once I get around to playing again, tho finding myself in situations where I'm on the lower ground is very rare so it might take a while X)

On a random-ass hunch I decided to stick around for the "Overgrown Tank" rumor, despite the fact that I have better things to do with my time that hunt for some stupid ass tank for 1 Heavy Weapon.

Turned out the Heavy Weapon was the Blaster Launcher. I want Bradford to find the person who gave us that clue so I can give them a personal commendation.

You can get it by doing experimental powered weapon in the proving grounds too.

Shredstorm cannon is also really good.

Does experimental armor only give the utility underarmor or can it also give actual full suits?  I only did experimental armor once, got a vest that makes you immune to environmental effects which didn't seem big enough to replace a grenade.

I've only gotten vests, but I did get a regen vest out of it once.
