..Huh? I spoiled nothing in that. I mentioned:
Mind Control.
Ammo.
Sniper.
Turns.

It's pretty obvious that there's mind control in the game, since it's XCOM, and it's already been mentioned several times throughout the thread. And last time I checked, the rest aren't spoilers.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Kruniac, you aren't exactly sounding helpful or anything. You're sounding like someone who expects it to not be what you want and didn't bother to look at any news about it anyways, so that you can complain it is not UFO Defence in 3d.

1: I didn't look at any news so I would be surprised.
Then don't post about bullshit speculation you got at second-hand or worse when everyone else has been paying attention to officially released information and preview footage?

Didn't come out like I wanted! Do they actually reload and use the sniper against you? They need 2 turns though, I assume you first reload, and then get a pistol shot at most?

Sorry for the assumption, then.

It was weird, actually. My MC'd sniper just moved towards the rest of my squad then reloaded, even though they could have used their pistol.

Well, fuck. Got it all unpacked and everything, and I'm getting errors saying my computer needs DirectX 10.1, even though dxdiag says I have 11. After doing a bit of digging, it appears that Windows is a lying bastard and my poor little 9800GT supposedly can't actually handle DirectX 10.1.

Guess it's time to go graphics card shopping.

This game is seriously either badly optimized or the engine is kind of meh graphics wise.

If you put MSAA to max it eats up my gpu worse than maxing out GTA5 and it's no where near as pretty.

I'm really enjoying sharpshooter though. With support from Demolitions and combat medic they're kind of carrying me so hard. And it is satisfyingly ragingly difficult.

Also for those concerned I assisted my girlfriend's feels until she fell asleep, so I'm still an okay guy.

EDIT: And of course my Aussie is a grenadier. Bunch of badasses. My great grandfather used to tell me that he'd prefer an Aussie in his foxhole than ten of his fellow marines. (He fought in the Pacific in World War Two)

During my most recent mission, I had to send in a team of entirely rookies due to my entire A-team getting critically injured during the Black Site mission. I breezed through most of the mission until I had a single Sectoid left.

THAT FUCKING SECTOID. It proceeded to reanimate a corpse and mind-control one of my soldiers. It then dodged all shots 3 turns in a row while its little personal army attacked my squad.

So, just played literally the first mission I'm allowed to have control over the troops.  And it was... intense.  Like my heart was literally pounding from a turn based game near the end.  Jake Soloman has still got it, that's for sure.

I can report that XCOM2 runs, barely, on a Surface Pro 1.

First mission done, valkyrie squad, (not my doing, seems like most of my spares other rookies are female), typically, the only injury was to the Aussie, (official response to the accent used: bleh).

Apparently the tutorial missions (some of them, at least) are game-critical.

On the third mission, I failed to reach my objective in time thanks to some terribly unlucky shots repeatedly missing a sectoid. I tried to rush the objective, but the rookie in question triggered a second batch of enemies and she didn't have the movement range anyway. Despite eventually prevailing against the foes, not losing a single soldier, AND finding some good-sounding loot, upon finished the mission I was told that the XCOM project would be shut down, effective immediately, and I was given the option to restart the mission. The second time I managed to prevail, though I noticed that the unactivated patrols didn't move in the same way and the loot did not drop. Shame.

Performance also seems somewhat worse than EW; longer loading times and more frequent stuttering. Might have to update drivers or something, because I know for a fact that my graphics card supports DirectX 11.

Still! It's definitely intense and I'm liking it so far. Getting mind-controlled on the second mission of the game was an unpleasant experience.

I feel like such a scrub; I had to restart on veteran difficulty after getting my ass kicked in the first few higher level missions. The tutorial seems to throw you into a bunch of missions immediately without much chance to get your bearings.
