Alright, so those of us who got the Resistance Warrior pack.

If you're wondering what you get, other than the cosmetic stuff, one of your random recruits will have Guile hair and XCOM: EU gear.

HOWEVER!

Note two things:

1. That person's appearance is entirely tied to his / her armor. If you change the armor, they change completely.
2. If you customize that person's appearance, you lose the Guile hair forever.

That's odd, I know TotalBiscuit did a preview video and the Guile hair was one of the things he could give his soldiers.

It might be an unlockable. But when I try to add it back to my soldier it's not there.

Speaking of the pack, steam shows it as purchased but not installed. Neither is the soundtrack, but I don't care about that one (yet). Do I have to manually add it somehow? The Reinforcement Pack shows as installed.

For all of you folks not in Asia, consider the following entirely hypothetical scenario: imagine there are free VPN services that can make pretend you are in Asia. Then you hypothetically connect to Steam, who hypothetically thinks you're there, and then it hypothetically unpacks, then hypothetically downloads a few more hypothetical hundreds megs, then you hypothetically run the game, then you hypothetically quit the game, then you hypothetically go into offline mode and then you are Hypothetical Commander.

You know, hypothetically.

Its gotta unpack and patch anyway, you could just let it run and be able to play it tomorrow. (this is probably not helpful advice however)

What TB said on customizables is that you can have pre-loaded customs with unlockable cosmetics, i.e. if you export a Sergeant kitted in Sergeant-rank cosmetics (*not* actual gear), and load him back as a premade Rookie recruit, he will have the Sergeant gear. So yeah, most likely it's an unlockable on higher levels.

Dunno what you mean, worth the name. It's not like XCOm 2 needs to be much like X-com. It's a sequel to EU, not the original-And THAT was a remake.

Meaning worthy of the name of X-Com, meaning good compared to the original X-Com, meaning not a shitty remake a la EU. I don't even need inventories, just a similar experience to playing X-Com, both in casualties and progress measurement. Oh, and no special powers. That's pretty shit and arcade.

That's what I mean.

I've only had that work when redeeming keys for games that are region locked, never for a preloaded game. Have you got it to work, successfully?

I have some immunofluorescence in the lab starting at 9 AM. I'm fairly distressed. If I go in with no sleep, I'll probably break a cover slip or ruin a cell culture. If I get plenty of sleep, I'm not X-Com-ing. :(

WHY DO WE HAVE TO MAKE THESE DECISIONS?!

It does hypothetically take about 1h-1h30m on a hypothetical non-SSD hard drive and a hypothetical i5-4690.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Now THAT is actually illegal and might get your Steam account banned. There are precisely zero reports of getting banned for VPNing to unlock a game that you've purchased from your region earlier. The XCOM subreddit has a few threads about this stuff.

Also,

Level-dependent cosmetics are kind of a cool idea. Not sure I approve of the lack of flexibility, but the idea that not just any ol' rookie can have hair this fabulous is pretty good.
