Well, seems that it's good enough, TB says he went to play his review copy and kinda went and finished it completely :V

That said, he also says it has performance issues and there's a certain amount of buggyness to the animations.

I might not've gotten a discount, but at least I don't have to wait on gmg for a key.

The customization preview Beagle did showed that the game keeps track of what hair is kept underneath helmets now, and with the inevitable onslought of cosmetic mods I'd be surprised if Firaxis hasn't fixed the dlc hat issues.

All that matters is that you had fun. I think I also beat it once. Tried many times though :P

Also, really hyped and trying to take it down a notch. But seriously, all I've heard is good stuff. TB is really happy with it (minus bugs and performance) and Rock, Paper, Shotgun gave it an amazingly glowing review too.

Considering Firaxis's track record, I'm not surprised at all. Especially since TB is a known Xcommie and at least a solid 25% of the RPS office adores XCom...

Yeah. Can't waaaait.

I won't be surprised at all, personally, if I don't get my GMG key until release.  That's one of the things about getting it from resellers; it has to filter through multiple parties, introducing new delay points all over the place.

I fully expect the game to be terrible since I preordered it. I'm sorry boys, I tend to jinx things. Master of Orion 3 had been wonderful if I hadn't preordered. Now I've done the same to this one.  :'(

Reviews are already out for quite a few days now. They say its basically an improved, slightly different newcom 1 with more stuff and customization overall, which is basically what everyone was expecting. Nothing revolutionary, just better then the first overall.

TotalBiscuit's "WTF is..." review provides some nice insights. I like that basebuilding is less formulaic than before, seeing as you don't have the pressure of satellite coverage on you.

He also mentioned that the game has performance issues, which is really not filling me with confidence here. :P
Unless there's a demo or something, it's going to be another session of "pirate, then see if buy". >_>

I'm actually happy it's not revolutionary just that is looks like a simply cooler game with basic improvements. I've seen one too many games fail and burn because they need this revolutionary new feature 9her everything else and it just sucked.

Revolutionary, no, but it sure is quite a compliment to say that a sequel does what XCOM 2 does. Some reviews have even said that XCOM 2 is so nice it makes XCOM: EU look like a trial run.

Plus they all really praised the replayability, many saying they'll put hundreds of hours into it. I say that as long as Firaxis does the work of bug-smashing and optimization, the mods can solve the rest. And that's the funny thing: Mods really can solve almost any problem you have with the game.

I'm excited.
