Speaking as a console-only player... I have no idea how the console version didn't do well. It's awesome.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

I ended up playing now both versions, and PC was substantially better.

nuCOM's controls were clunky and imprecise on PC. I shudder to think about what it would have been like trying to play with a gamepad.

The controls were just fine with a gamepad.  Occasional issues with your cursor snapping to places you didn't want it, but nothing too bad.

Anecdotally...every single one of my PC gamer friends has it. None of my console-only friends have it, despite me praising it a good deal. Not sure why the console crowd isn't interested but...they just aren't.

Used to be the norm...
Yeah it used to be, but then FPS was mostly on the PC rather then consoles as well, but that's changed up too.

To be honest, I actually have it on console and PC, and it's not bad on console, but it is better on PC. Because Long War makes the deaths go round!

Yeah, it suffered from "Controls were designed for the more restrictive crappy console control method first" syndrome that's common to multiplatform games now (See also: Shitty iPad ports).

That's one reason I'm actually very glad it's PC only. The interface will be better to use because of that decision, and features like the complicated character customization might have otherwise been pared back due to not working well with a controller. Unless Xcom 2 does in fact support gamepad? Then the decision not to bring it to consoles is weird and can only be justified by truly terrible sales for Unknown/Within on console.

Its not exactly a surprise either, not everything actually works with gamepads. Sometimes theres support, sometimes it works anyway, sometimes you break the game by leaving a gamepad plugged in...

As long as it's not a strategy game or like a city builder, I would never play a PC game without a controller, seriously. PC means the best of both worlds - couch gaming with a nice controller, and great processing power! Not being forced to the hassle of using mouse + keyboard. Totally breaks any game for me.
This amused me. 'Hassle'

What am I going to take my frustrations on if I can't throw my game controller in disgust after RNG screw me over?
