I thought they already had something like that role.

You may be thinking of Long War's engineer subclass.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Double post, but there's an interview out. Highlights include class summaries, movement waypoints, spreading fire, and more. Here.

Yeah, for classes it's:

Quote
Sharpshooter : Sniper, but with increased pistol importance
Ranger: Assault, but with a katana
Grenadier: Splosions
Specialist : Support. The drone you see in the trailer is his.

BAD END plot confirmed, X-Com did not get past lazers. That's pretty disappointing.

Still holding out hope for Valhen & co.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

There are a few possibilities

1) This is an alternate timeline
2) The hidden aliens and alien hybrids grew up

It doesn't really make a difference, this way of doing the sequel is akin to the "nu-uh, I'm invincible to your mind ray" school of plot development.

I'm still going to buy it day one, obviously, but that's a sad lack of creativity.

they can have some cool stuff that gives them a lot of character and fits this idea of they’re this sort of hardened group, they’re not fresh-out-of-the-barracks Johnny Soldier; this is really more of a Sons of Anarchy-type of squad.

I thought that, but after reading the latest interview I kinda agreed with them. X-com: TftD was pretty lame in terms of plot 'now they're underwater!' and an alternative universe is probably the only way it would have made sense. You'd have either had that or a Witcher style 'xcom forgot how to do everything!' thing.

If they can deliver on their promises I think this will be fantastic. They seem to have listened to all the criticism and come up with great ways to deal with it, especially allowing full-on modding from the start.

I would have accepted the "we've been fighting an underground war with no support for twenty years, the last plasma cannons and titan suits broke down for good months ago"

The one good thing I did get out of this interview is the way they're treating human enemies vs. alien enemies. If they're serious about the latter being intentionally designed for hyper-lethality it would add an interesting tactical consideration.

But after swatting down the plot of EW I'm gonna be real disappointed if the old cast is erased too.

Trailer was cool, but not too hype. That interview on the otherhand, that is a pretty hype thing. :D
