So it looks like the menace the ethereals were talking about has not been revealed yet... the new aliens are probably human/alien hybrids then.

Didn't apocalypse have hybrids joining the xcom side?

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

I can see the resemblance. Speaking of, that doesn't look like a tourist center for the Grand Canyon, if that's what it is, but a camp of non-Ardent affiliated humans.

Fun fact: in the early parts of the trailer, about when you see the sectoid-human hybrid statue, you can see a screen in the background that shows an Ethereal in a heroic pose.

EDIT: Also if you look at their weapons, they look a lot like ballistic weapons from EU/EW
I'd imagine plasma ammunition is very expensive and power for lasers is also a substantial investment, meaning you may have to loot these in-game before using the higher tiers is possible.

So it looks like the menace the ethereals were talking about has not been revealed yet... the new aliens are probably human/alien hybrids then.

Didn't apocalypse have hybrids joining the xcom side?
Yes, but these hybrids are more sectoid than human. Maybe the ones on the more human side of the spectrum will fight for you after being subject to the terrible experiments of their alien overlords, and you rescuing them, of course.

Or maybe they are the ADVENT troopers. It's not like we get to see much beneath all that power armour.

EDIT: The advent site got updated some time today. It plays a small animation and redirects to TuXCOM's website.

Meh.... that sectoid is a merge between sectoid and thin man... well it would explain their slim and high stature...

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

>XCOM is the aliens now
>aliens have to do the bomb disposals now
>aliens need to rescue the sympathizers now
>aliens need to escort their VIPs now
>aliens need to scream in anger when XCOM airdrops reinforcements in and auto-overwatches
>aliens need to watch when their satellites blow up
>aliens get to go to Newfoundland and cry when a bunch of machete wielding XCOM troops bust out of barrels and dead sympathizers

Give me my terror missions Firaxis. Let me taste the other side. I want to make the alien AI cry.

I think I figured out how the aliens could have won after losing.

Look at the sectoid. Its the same species, but it looks entirely different. Snakemen weren't in the first attack. Ethereal were never revealed to the public. What if these aliens are a """"second"""" empire that came to """"help"""" when a "rogue" empire came and invaded, but XCOM managed to save the day before the """"good"""" aliens arrived? A bit of mind control there, a bit of humanitarian aid there to help rebuild the planet, changing the aliens to look different for deniability and boom, hearts and minds won. XCOM tries to fight back? Xenophobic monsters that should know better. Assuming the public knows about XCOM in the first place.

Plus, EXALT is back it seems, so they would be a valuable asset in the coverup.

I think it'd be awesome to have the sorts of escort and terror missions flipped on the aliens, while still having the same type of missions for XCOM (like, having anti-alien towns being attacked and evacuating double agents)
