It's saying "No keys available until the game is released" for me.

I wonder if there'll be an option to have a standard preset customization that applies to all rookies.

Obviously all of them will have full facemasks. Rookies don't deserve faces.

I wish. Doubt it'll come with the base game, though, hopefully someone will mod it in.

But think of the faces I will have to see! Chrissakes, the rookies' deaths will have meaning and trauma from all the emotional investment I'll have gained by seeing their faces!

On an unrelated note, the hype for XCOM 2 has made me delve deep into OpenXcom. So far, 133 deaths and counting.

Faces?  OldCom soldiers don't even get names until they're halfway up the rank tree.

They could bypass that by way of the alternate promotion tree- Surviving five UFO breaches

Trump Brigade is go.

Actually the idea of stuffing them all in some kind of uniform and then letting them gradually customize out as they gain experience and accomplishments sounds really cool. I might consider that if I do a game where headcanon isn't that half my soldiers are from what was formerly the United States of Juggalo.

Are few-days-from-launch reviews ever not almost all very positive?

Ok: Everyone tell the story of yoru favorite character, how, they gained recognition, and how they inevitably died.

Mine was an assault who had the nick of "twitch". He had lightning reflexes and close combat specialist, and both of these were activated at oeast 3 times in one mission. I liked imagining him downing a couple large slushies before each mission. He died after i made a stupid move shortly after defusing an Exalt comm, and the Exalt heavy shot him with a Rocket. Long live twitch. May he be spazzing in heaven.

My best solider ever was a squadsight sniper nicknamed Helsing. He had a ridiculous killcount and was my very first psi-user. The best part was, he never died! He made it to the very end of XCOM EU, and he was either in it from the beginning or came on shortly into the game.

If we're going by favorites who died, that would probably have to be Grande, my heavy. He was on the very first squad, and eventually died fighting three mutons at the same time, at least one of which was an elite. Probably his best moment was when he overwatch'd a heavy floater out of the sky while it was busting through a skylight.

I had an assault named Gunnar Karlson. That was not his nickname. He was named Gunnar. It was prophetic. He became the first psi user. Then the volunteer, and he also singlehandedly killed a Sectopod. Alas, when we went to the final level, i accidentally had 2 rookies in the squad, and i ended up giving up and restarting the game.

Edit: he was also in the first mission. And im pretty sure he was non-actove for about 6 missions. He fought everytime else.
