So, what'll you all be filling your character pools with? I figure I'll make my friends, Metal Gear, and JoJo characters.
RULES OF NATURE is inevitable, of course.

Man, I'll probably do all sorts of shit. Ripley from Alien. Touhous. Uplift randoms that do something heroic. Whatever crosses my mind, honestly.

Probably this. Characters from RPs. Favorites from games. Etc.

If the creator of this doesn't make and share the soldier file for him, then this guy.

Also probably random guys based off my old XCOM playthroughs and various fictional folks with their backstories adjusted to take place in the XCOM2 verse.

Oh and also the distant successor of the Broom Mcbucket/Mopsy Mchelmet program :P

I'll probably wait for some mods to add all sorts of popular sci-fi bits. If I can recreate, say, Mass Effect characters on my XCOM squad, I'll be happy.

I've only got one old X-Com member who I have in mind, Simba Mensah. He was my glorious psychic Nigerian sniper god, and in the end he sacrificed himself to save the squad from a botched supply barge landing. He almost lived too, the Ethereal that killed him was at 1 HP.

One second as I beg for someone to make a GOOD (good in caps because well... Mount and Blade shows us how bad co-op is bad) Co-op mode.

I'd love to play the main campaign with a friend.

I'm going to fit this guy in there somehow from my EW game. It might have to wait until a mod or something, but other than that I have no idea.

Actually I went back over my screenshots, and there are a few people I still recognize.  So they can join:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=222049197

Major "Voodoo" Sun was a good medic but an amazing shot, which is why she has the only plasma.
Colonel "Odin" Castillo was around from the start.  His aim sucked but he didn't misfire any rockets.
Colonel "Hex" Ryan got ambushed in the trees while providing sniper support.  Given a second chance, she saved her squad in the Site Recon but couldn't make the evac.
Lieutenant "Rhino" White was a total nutjob.  He should have died a dozen times, the way I charged him into FoW for flanks.  I eventually gave him pink armor and a fedora, and he always had the derpiest grin.  He seemed particularly good against EXALT after that.

I dunno...  If these guys were in XCOM, how could we have lost the first wave :P

Well in this new canon, XCOM lost fairly quickly, right? Perhaps in this timeline, your dudes never even got a chance to enlist in XCOM because the war ended too soon.

Totally, and I got my ass kicked hard both times I tried impossible.  Even when I won battles.  I love this sequel's premise because it makes sooo much sense...

Gaaah. I can't bear this wait.
Even playing through XCOM:EU is barely helping. 120 hours until the 5th. At least the review embargo lifts on Monday, so I get to be jealous of the reviewers and have something fun to do! Dodging all the spoilers!

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Looks like GMG won't be sending out keys until the game is released. So don't get any pre-loading hopes up. Actually, if past experience is any indication us GMG folks won't get our keys for at least 24 hours after release :P

I got my FO4 key from GMG in time to preload, IIRC.
