I had a solid minute where I wondered why there weren't any baby Chrysalids.

Nonono. It's...

...computer games.
...video games.

(EDIT: I don't actually remember the quote from Shen. It was when you first see Alien Entertainment.)

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

That's the actual reason behind the invasion, the ethereals are actually here for our vidya games.

Well, you can already dress your soldiers up to look pretty Exalt-ish. Bandanna and all. Beagle did a whole squad of them during a stream.
I wonder if that's a plot point, artists having fun, or Firaxis giving a nod to EXALT fans.

One thing I loved about Old Com is that the ships really did have quite a few things for entertainment or food. Ships were built for the voyages and flight lengths you expected them to.

Newcom didn't quite have the same feel making the aliens seem less alive...

But Newcom2 fixes that since their facilities are your facilities. Attack the coffee break room!

---

But you want to know what I'll absolutely love?

If the aliens like... gained a genuine like of certain human this. Like... Heck as silly as it sounds Dohnuts, they just love dohnuts. Like an actual cultural exchange.

Or rebellious aliens that, obviously can't be trusted by you, but work against the project in the fluff.

Well that's actually explained in Newcom, considering that most of them are slave races and that the Ethereal really don't care about them. That and they don't need long range systems like that since in Oldcom they were coming from Mars and setting up bases along the planet for faster gain of supplies, while newcom have the huge Temple Ship up in orbit that they can return to for supplies.
