Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Uh, sorry I haven't been following this.  Where does the P2W come into this, or is it (hopefully) a joke?
P2W is a joke - arguably - but a class is locked behind a paywall at day 1, which is pretty awful, so the title is lambasting terrible DLC practices.

Ah, fair enough.  That is pretty lame.

Hah, I'm not even mad about it any more after the fresh new DLC experience I just had: playing in an Exile mod (ArmA III) server, I was looting up after spawning and found an assault rifle. When I opened my inventory to pick it up, it had a curious little label which read "DLC" and couldn't be equipped. When I double-clicked for details, it led to a Steam wallet-based payment page. For a lousy random-loot gun for a single server for a free mod.

So I just took the ammo to sell later.

But yeah, I'm only mildly peeved at Firaxis for this, and the game looks too good otherwise for me to want to boycott. I just hope that we get a mod which removes the alien victory timer so that we can play forever in the same campaign.

Are you sure that was put in by the people running the server? I'd have expected it to be something put in place for the very unlikely situation where someone playing the vanilla game tries to get the Marksman DLC weapons without owning the DLC or whatever.

EDIT: Except actually the Marksman DLC is entirely sniper rifles and machine guns. No clue then.

There are also marksman rifles, which I think include a few automatic ones.

Well, the two 'content' DLCs are not being released as DLC until Summer 2016, so it's not quite the same at day 1 DLC. I imagine most people getting those will be on their nth playthough and the new content will be a nice change of pace at that point, rather than giving you some advantage from the get-go.

I think the only Day 1 DLC stuff is cosmetic, unless there is a store-specific DLC I'm not aware of that goes beyond that.

BTW, Beaglerush is streaming XCOM 2 right now.

Oh, it's not day 1? I was understanding the extra calss to be day 1 dlc.
If it's being released after, well, release, that's a big chunk of my objection gone.

Same.  It does feel a bit light to me as well, but if it's not Day One, I'm not nearly as irritated about it as I would have been was otherwise.

IT'S NOT DAY ONE DLC

The only DLC available at day one is the little cosmetic pre-order bonus. The other cosmetic DLC listed in the reinforcement pack (WHICH IS A SEASON PASS) is given a spring 2016 release date. The other two gameplay DLCs, including the extra class, are slated for Summer 2016.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

The season passes are the same as Day 1 DLC in intent. It's stuff they've got well planned as part of the game and they've just cut it out to sell on top.

I posted this before and so did others, but I will repeat again. The new class is not at day 1. It will be released later in the year. Just so no one else comes in and thinks the same.

Sure, if you're a pessimist who thinks that all games should be perfect no matter what at release and developers aren't allowed to make new content.

What, is planning day one DLC now?

You're being given the chance to pay up front for DLC you know is coming because Firaxis is a AAA dev house and XCOM2 will be stupidly successful. I don't really see anything wrong with that premise unless you're just flat out opposed to DLC. And to be fair, 2K Games could be riding the XCOM2 release a lot harder than they are. In terms of offensive things publishers and devs do to double up their earnings, this is a pretty minor one that I'd actually consider a fair compromise. So you can preorder the DLC that won't be there for Day 1. So wat. As long as it's not sitting on disk waiting to be unlocked, I don't mind.
