They also have a new trailer. That seems to have lots of cutscene clips, which all seem to be very cool.
Here.
VO and some of the clips definitely point towards getting help from civilians. Which is awesome. Imagine if a civilian during a mission takes out a pistol and saves your last soldier.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Judging by Beaglerush's gameplay, it may be the opposite...

While it looks like you can't target civilians on purpose, Beaglerush does
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
so there's that.

In other news, they have some kind of season pass for DLC.
Offers 3 different DLCs:
1 adds a new class. "Shen’s Last Gift." I would assume it's the Edge of Tommorow-esque exosuit seen in the latest trailer (Nope piece of armor), but considering it's DLC and not out at release, maybe not.
1 adds "Rebellion-themed content with more dramatic soldier customizations."
1 adds "New gameplay highlighting an elite alien hunting unit of XCOM as it tracks down “Ruler” aliens, plus a new mission, additional soldier customization options and more powerful weapons and armor. Available Summer 2016."

The last one seems to be kind of similar to Enemy Within in regards of content, but I can't tell at this point. I really just hope that we have something rivaling Enemy Within in terms of an actual expansion pack style addon.

I'm really liking all the new gameplay options.  So far:

It looks like heavies will be able to get more shots in exchange for being weaker than the rocketeers of old.  That + exo rockets + soldiers with grenades could equate to a lot of boom.  Of course, they can just shoot out cover, so perhaps grenades have become redundant...

Supports don't need to actually see the enemy in order to contribute.  They just need to be able to see their ALLIES.

Rangers aren't detected with the rest of the squad.  This seems like it would open the way to some pure stealth gameplay.  Anyone gets caught, they run for the extraction point while everyone else continues pursuing the objective.  Dangerous, but potentially a way to complete objectives against vastly superior foes.  Alternately, the legendary SOLO RANGER ELITE OPERATIVE may actually be a viable, indeed even intelligent, strategy.

The sniper's pistol revolver slinging is fucking kickass.  GO BELLE GO.  Oh and it seems to be a more balanced version of rapid fire that you can access from the beginning but that's a secondary concern to the first part.

I'm really curious if concealed status can be restored.  If it can that would be a game changer.

The Exosuits are not a new class, just armor, confirmed by Beagle and by the fact that a ranger was using it in the video. Pretty powerful considering that's a rocket launcher that you could presumably put on the whole squad.

Yeah, I know.  Grenade launcher + grenades + exo rockets + ability to choose classes (I believe confirmed?) means you could basically never use anything except explosive attacks.

I assume there are aliens with enough health to make this not the best thing ever.

Edit: Although... if exos preclude the use of normal items, then that would actually make the whole thing seem a lot more balanced...

You can fix many things in xcom missions with the use of more explosions...

I feel like being able to spam explosives combined with floors and ceilings being destructible makes XCOM 2 much more like X-Com than XCOM ever was. :P

I wonder if bringing the ceiling down on the enemy damages them at all.

Cant comprehend that I just thought of this, but with modding the game being allowed almost from the get go, I wonder if anyone is going to make a "make-a-soldier" website which lets you customize a soldier which can then be put in the game. Would probably make the lives of people running lets plays of it easier...

I'd love if this + remote demo charges were a thing. You could sneak around a building, wire up the charges and just crush errything inside wholesale.

E: Watching Beaglerush's War Hand playthrough, I noticed that that the description on the alium mech corpses says the design is similar to Shen's prototypes. So... the DLC class is probably mech-y in some way.

Was playing incubation the other day and had an epiphany when trying to avoid a Cy'Coo barrage.
Nucom is more of a sequel to Incubation than it is a sequel to actual X-Com (battlescape wise)!
The soldiers have few action points. The camera goes cinematic when shooting (naturally 1997 cinematic is wildly different than 2012 cinematic. It has far less polygons and details for obvious reasons).
It's sketchy but the similarities are there is you squint hard enough.
