It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Looking forward to Cockney English, slightly Aussie sounding, randomized-pitch/length/cadence Australian voices. Of the future! Possibly even for ADVENT agents will use them. This will be even funnier than most Australian voices in computer games.

So uh, without spoilers, is the book good?
Like as an actual novel. Hopefully to the point where it doesn't feel like fan fiction?

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

It's reasonably literally an optional prologue, there's probably only so good it could have turned out.

Sounds like fan-service-fiction to me.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

nice well-lit electronic bus terminal in the middle of your post apocalyptic town, guys.  I'll just make up my own excuse for that to help suspend disbelief.

On the other hand, AWESOME train.  Great that they're actually adding detail like *infrastructure* to these megacities.

I guess none of these vehicles will move, though?  Has there been a tactical game that actually pulled off moving vehicles since Syndicate?  We can have moving player and ai-controlled vehicles in FPS games like COD, but not in a turn-based-tactics game?

I guess the recent Satellite Reign has working vehicles, except I hear they don't really work very well.

We're having a war between the terrorist xcom and the alien overlords, but by God the 6:15 will not be delayed!

It's not as though the town is totally abandoned, the administration just isn't as fussed with it as they are their nice shiny cities. The buses are still important to funnel commuters to somewhere they can be productive, though.

Not even about being fussed.

The suburbs being neglected has a very, very obvious purpose once you realize that ADVENT wants people to move to the cities.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

I'd kind of expect civic power sources not to be running, anyone out there would be on their own solar or petrol generators.

But thats okay.  lalala, half baked reasons to shoot unambiguously evil creatures that dont look like people, lalala.

I was way more enthusiastic earlier on this hype train, but I guess I'm just feeling grumpy about the whole thing.  Honestly, I think my attitude turned after I ground through the second half of that Long War play through.
