Them Venomorphs were supposed to be in EW. They had to cut them though. They're just bringing them back for XCOM2.

Basically, what I'm saying is that they aren't Thin Men.

Out of canon, they might notbe. In cannon, who knows.

Few living beings are recognizable as anything in particular once they leave a cannon.

How do you know that, though? They certainly make more sense than Vipers as "what's behind the mask" for Thin Mints. In particular, look at the top left and second from top right on the concept art and tell me those aren't Thin Men sans people-suit.

Yeah, but they explicitly stated vipers were the thin men without skinsuits.

Does it have to be anything? There's a thin man in the gameplay demo (the non-gameplay part, "Earth corrupt governments struck... etc")

Yeah, but they explicitly stated vipers were the thin men without skinsuits.
What's the source on that?

One of the streams for XCOM2. I forget which one. Or it might have been the viper introduction vid. I forget. But yeah they said it.

The arched back pose is very similar to how the thinmen look in the original.

I believe they mentioned in the first gameplay livestream that the vipers were the true form of thin men.

It's been said somewhere, at any rate.

Don't care, got my own headcanon now. Venomorphs look like Thin Mints and even have a name which sounds like them ("Venom" + "Morph"). Maybe they're THE MALES THE FEMALES a different subset of the same species as the Vipers.

Actually... Vipers have the chesticles, Venomorphs have that cluster of what look like eggs on the stomach.

'Few' in what sense?  I'm going to hazard a guess that the majority of non-microscopic living beings whom have exited a cannon were entirely recognizable after they left.  Weighed against the total number of living beings, sure, there's only a few of them.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But he said In cannon, which probably means that they are unobserved like Schrodinger's cat.  They'd be in some sort of quantum superstate until you fire it/them.

I like to imagine that the aliens in NuCom that magically inserted from the sky were being fired out of a Heinlein-style cannon (or was that from Steakley's 'Armor'?) on an orbital troop ship.  Now that the TwoCommies are flying their own xenoship, maybe we can have our own human cannonballs.

But thats just my head canon.  (fakedit: SHIT, beaten to the headcanon pun)

Actually, this explains everything.  The aliens came here via a Verne cannon.  That's why they move in such small teams, and why they literally drop in from the sky without any drop ships that your fighters can shoot down.  Those falling pods?  Verne cannon.  Their ships?  Fired out of a big cannon.  Their temple ship?  It wasn't hiding; it just happened to arrive at the same time the Gollup Chamber was used.  From a really, really big cannon.
