....why exactly is this confirmed to be xcom?

Unless I'm missing something it could still easily be something else, the evidence all seems to be a lot of wishful thinking.

(I'd love a new xcom though)

Let's please not turn this into another Old-Com vs NewCOM argument. The old thread had plenty already. Instead, we should focus on the hype.

There is a lot of evidence in the old thread. I'll edit this post or do another with everything gathered.

Vigilo Confido, XCOM font, "We will be watching" vs "We are still watching", gene therapy...
It's not likely to be much else.

Is it just me, or is the "ADVENT GENE THERAPY" picture not glitching out as much anymore? I might have been imagining it, but I thought it had shadowy figures and something involving shackling.
No, you're right. The level seems to vary over time. This morning (for me) was when I first noticed it had toned down there.

I always assumed "Vigilo Confido" meant "We trust in the Watch(/Watchers)" or something like that, and was a joke on the old "Who watches the watchers" thing and related philosophia.

It's not likely to be much else.

I assume you're referring to the advent symbol made of "lies" but I don't see a V anywhere.

Edit: in the picture in the linked pdf. I'm a little more convinced but I'm still not getting my hopes up :|

The rest all seems a little bit like a stretch to me - for example bioshock had an emphasis on gene modification too.

I'm also not seeing the apocalypse connection - apocalypse had nothing to do with shady corporations abducting people (or whatever) it had to do with cartoonish aliens from another dimension.

I'm not saying it's not xcom, I'm just saying it seems very premature to say "WELP IT'S XCOM FOR SURE"

The V. come from the gene therapy .pdf, where some obviously wrong elements are in red.

Collection of quotes from the previous thread where we pretty much determined it is XCOM "2".

I hope someone is archiving all the revisions of the "hacking." These are pretty cool.
