Gotta agree with them though, it would be hard to carry on from XCOM1's victory ending. And a time travelling thing would cause a lot of questions as well. Not sure why so many people couldn't complete XCOM at all though. That's quite hilarious. Maybe we should look at other games' victory achievements as well. I wonder if they would paint a similar picture.

Imagined case:
"Lawl, now you gotta fight darkspawn in Dragon Age 2 because the Hero of Ferelden failed. Prepare your anus for when the Archdemon decides Kirkwall is next. Oh, and by the way, you can't save your brother/sister because the Grey Wardens are dead or fighting in Ferelden."

Honestly, it's the same with pretty much every game on steam.

37% of all games have never been played (after March 2009 and while connected to the internet).

Pretty sure they were tracking actual completed campaigns, though.  Which I think is one of the global stats listed after you win.

Though it's kinda weird.  Last time I won, the stats for money and stuff were hilariously overinflated by cheaters.  And I've failed a lot of campaigns, but only actually played to the end like once...  I guess more people stick around to the bitter end than I'd expect.

Wrong thread?
Not this time :P  Just explaining things poorly I guess.
Based on the stats you see upon winning a game of NewCOM, I'm saying they know how many games were lost versus won.
But it's weird because I wouldn't expect many people to actually get to the official losing screen.  It's hard to recover in NewCOM.

I don't think they were using the Steam achievement stats, they have more precise stats already.

I must say, I was confused by the notion of people cheating on a single player game.

Kinda obvious that it would happen though.

Spread coverage as you want. But you wouldn't auto-lose because you just ran two bases with good coverage (lots of radars). Even without hyperwave decoders.

In oldCom you also were supposed to check the alien activity chart to see what your radars were missing. Usually that was more important in determining what countries needed more of your attention to prevent them from leaving.
