I'm well into a game, and discovered that my caverns are apparently devoid of life plant life.  Probably something I did in world gen.  They seem not to have water, either.

Any tips/tricks?  I want to get an underground pasture for my sheep.

Tough out of luck. When you gen a world, you need to ensure there's water in the caverns, your caverns have no water so nothing can grow in them. Up the minimum to at least 1 water in caverns to prevent this.

That seems like a good idea.  Thanks!

I'm fairly certain you can release them with DF-hack

Blood thorns, assuming there were not modded out for whatever reason, still grow in dry caverns. To avoid dry caverns, I recommend setting the minimum water level in the caverns to 5 (personal preference, anything above 0 is fine) in the worldgen settings.

Even if one cavern layer is barren, it's unusual for all 3 to be. Try digging deeper.
