♫ Monster Mash Tournament III Begins ♫ As the theme song nears its end Gene steps to the stage dressed in all white suit.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Dear players and audience! Welcome to the third Monster Mash Tournament! I'm Gene White and I'm your host tonight!
This time we have made large number of changes on how the games will progress, more than ever before! No reason to worry, though, the idea is still same; defeat your opponents and take their power. So lets talk about these changes first!
First of all, we have moved away from one-on-one fights! That's right! This isn't a tournament anymore, but a battle royale! Free for all, anything goes, no holds barred, brutal beatdown where situation can change rapidly from favouring one contestant to another!
Second change is that players have now more freedom to pick their cards! We have number of card categories, more specific and powerful ones costing more! Yes, you heard right! Cards cost nominal amount of points. Each player starts with 100 points and you can spend those points right away or during the match!
And you can earn those points too in middle of match! First player to hurt another receives 20 points! First player to defeat opponent receives 50 points! Kill stealing counts, so feel free to play dirty! Killer receives all cards victim had and can sell them back for half price, or use them for yourself! The last man alive receives 100 points, which can be used in later tournaments! Oh, and little something to keep in mind if you want to change cards in middle of match: any card that changes your body renders you unable to fight back momentarily! So be careful in there!
We didn't forget audience either! Our betting system is vastly improved for this round! You can bet your points on who draws first blood! Or who is first to gain a kill! Who dies first! Who gets most kills! And lastly and most importantly, who is the last man standing! Of course, we employ timelimit for each of these betting categories. First blood can not be bet on after any of contestants meet in virtual arena. To help you make educated bet, we let you know what cards each combatant drew! First kill and first death can not be bet on after first blood is gained. Most kills and match winner can not be bet on after half of combatants are dead! So get your credit card ready, because virtual blood flows tonight!
And combatants, pay attention. You want to know this:"Cards and prices

30 Special: Upgrade mutation About mutations: "
Detrimental mutation" is something that would hinder a creature in life. It's not necessarily bad for combat, but often is. "
Neutral mutation" usually is not hindrance or boost to any animal with it, but in some rare situations may be either. "
Beneficial mutation" is something that creature would benefit from in lifetime. Not necessarily useful in combat, but changes are high it is.
"
Active" superpower is something that you have to actively mention to use, such as "
Magnetic Control" Beirus loves to use. Since mutations and powers often have random components it is possible that active mutation is not actually under your control. "
Passive" powers are primarily something that are always in effect, for example "
Metal Skin" and "
Superhuman Toughness". There are few you may be able to control, thanks to randomization, but those are few and far between.
We have one
Special card: Upgrade mutation. These were granted in previous tournaments as a prize for correct bets winners. If you received one and didn't use it yet, they are still useable in this match. With this card you an upgrade or change single randomized property of a mutation or power, such as range of power, trigger condition, or other limitation. Not all mutations have randomized properties, though. I think those properties are somewhat clearly marked, but if you are unsure, don't hesitate to ask.
As usual you can give me a number of card you want, any number between 0 and 2,147,483,647. Same number for same card type results always same card (unless I change my tables). However
Mammal and
Small Mammal do not give same card with same number because they are effectively different types.
If you do not feel like picking cards by yourself, you can go with default deck which is three Creatures (30 points), three Crossbreeds (15 points), one Joker (5 points) and five Mutations (50 points), 100 points total.
Limits
- You can have only one physical creature on the field. Certain mutations grant multiple bodies, but those are the only exception.
- You are limited to six (6) mutations/powers for your creature.
- Each crossbreed you apply on your creature increases the mutation/power limit by one (1). Crossbreed cards do not count against the limit.
- HARDCORE: You can bypass the limit by taking random detrimental mutation bundled with the card.
- Card switching is out. You can return cards you don't like for half price and buy new ones.
.
Beirus, we can assume that your trip to point of origin and whatever happens there happens before this tournament.
Another fun tidbit for everyone: remember that "switch two cards for one joker you have to use"? That only one player used as far as I remember? It had much higher changes to give you something good.
