Gene guides you to his car (brand new Benz, you notice) and gives you a ride through the city in silence. He drives to one of the suburbs, one left behind by development and filled with older buildings. He stops in seemingly nowhere and taps his phone a moment before turning to short gravel road. "Have to whitelist you before we arrive, otherwise you might jump out of moving car." He laughs. In end of the road is standardish house, probably built on 70s. A little out of shape, but acceptably so.

There's another car on the yard, pimped out a bit, the kind you expect teens to have. Fuzzy dice hanging from rear mirror, enhanced PA systems and so on. Very distinctive.

From inside the building is messy, random pieces of clothing resting on floor, open occult books piled on tables, empty whisky bottles in corner, and numerous thick cables running accross the floor connecting various obviously custom made devices. In the kitchen you are greeted by a man wearing only boxers, slippers and open bathrobe.

"How's she?"
"Stable, as predicted. Is he the man?"
"He is."
"Welcome. And good luck on solving the problem. Jeremy Varres is the name." He extends his arm for greeting.

[Beirus]

"Beirus. Nice to meet you. Those books, are they part of your attempts to solve this problem, or the reason for it? I was asked about dealing with possession before. Is she the possessed one?" Beirus replies, asking his questions after shaking Jeremy's hand.

"Books were going to be part of the solution, but they turned out to be so fucking useless. I haven't had time to throw them out yet. As for her, well, I let Gene show you."

Gene walks to the next door where cables are collected into semi neat bundle and nailed onto wall. The door opens to stairs leading down and the cable bundle follows down very ominously. Gene shows the way down, warning about loose steps, and after opening last door downstairs he steps aside letting you see the cellar.

"Welcome. Meet my wife Sophia..."

Walls of the room are entirely filled with medical monitors, lifesupport systems, oddly modified computer racks and other machines, some actually embedded into walls to make space for others. In middle of the room floats a woman in a hospital gown. Array of tubes and cables descend from ceiling onto her. An IV attached to her arms, tubes into her nose feeding her nutrious slurry and oxygen, other tubes to drain body waste, sensors taped all over her head and skin. All this you notice with one glance.

"...and The Metamorphica..."

The most out of the place thing is a large leatherbound book on her back. Closer look reveals that the book is quite litarally growing out of her back. The leather making up its cover is actually her skin flayed open, the pages are hard and pale yellow. There's a large mechanical contraption bolted on ceiling poking the book and flipping its pages and other sensors oserving it. You can see each page containing text and image. For example, currently open page has title "Petrifying Gaze" in beautifully handwritten style and an image of violet eye looking at a stone statue.

"... the biggest problem in my life and source of all this technology and powers. The thing I'm trying to get rid of."

I'm almost done with reorganizing roll tables. I think we may be ready for third tournament some time on next week. So that in mind, Beirus, where are you? Don't forget about me.

"I want to say I'm suprised, but with the Metamorphica being real, it makes some twisted sense that it would be a parasite preying on your loved one. You know what they say about making deals with the devil or getting wishes from a genie. They'll fuck you over in the worst way while still technically keeping their word. What have you tried to help her, Gene? Specifically, I mean. I have an idea, but it would help to know what you've already done that didn't work." Beirus states after taking a few moments to study the woman and book.

"Well, first thing we tried was using the powers it offers, summon various gods with its power, but we found out that nothing brough into being through cannot perceive its or its host's existance anywhere in the spacetime, though some greater gods noted suspicious lack of presence in present. Then we have tried surgically remove it, pull it off, burn it, dissolve it, destroy it piece by piece, but found out that only hurts her instead of the book. Then we moved on to occult stuff, but so far have found nothing that works. I hope there's something useful somewhere, but there's only so much three busy man can read."

"And you know what the worst part is? If we don't use the book often enough, then Sophia's health starts to deteriorate rapidly."

"Gene, if I can borrow your phone for a minute to see the powers the Metamorphica has, I may be able to find something to help us."

If Gene gives me the phone, scroll through it to see all the powers. Select these powers, along with their specifications if possible: Dual Attention; Enhanced Mental Capability, Doubled Willpower; Block Senses, Duration as long as concentration is held, range 100 yards, blocking touch (and pain); Multiplication with 3 copies, duration of once ever; Possession, lasts until reversed, swaps minds, 100 yard range, instantaneous speed; Transformatiom, transformation speed of a few seconds.

"Like I said, nothing that comes from the Metamorhica can affect it. Not directly anyway. Do you have an idea already?" He hands the phone you and sits down staring her floating wife.

Possession's range doesn't have 100 yards option. Hundred feet/30m is longest without having to see targets. I'll go with that for now. Rest you get as defined.

Gene doesn't pay attention on what you do with the phone, however Jeremy the ever vigilent machine master does notice. The device attached to the book whirls and rapidly flips pages before stopping on Inhibiting Field and Levitation.
"Interesting set of powers. What ya gonna do with those?" Jeremy's voice comes from stairwell.

"I don't know if this is a step towards stopping this thing, but I can at least get Gene his wife back. This isn't a burden one should bear without knowledge of it."

Multiply. Beirus 3 will then transform into Gene's wife, without the Metamorphica, of course. If this doesn't work, stop and I'll consider another course of action. If it does work, Beirus 4 applies Block Senses to the Metamorphiwife. Once that is done, Beirus 3 possesses Gene's wife, swapping minds with her. With my doubled willpower, blocked senses, and dual attention, I should be able to deal with any pain and go on with my life, any pain of the swapped clone pushed to the back of my mind. Beirus 2 and 4 will take turns using Block Senses on the MetamorphiBeirus, swapping out to eat, sleep, and take care of other bodily functions. Forever, I guess. Or until we destroy this thing.

You #3 transforms succesfully. You know what she looks like, covered parts excluded, but Sophia can handle those details assuming this plan works. #4 concentrates on blocking her sense of touch and pain, or so you think; the power doesn't provice any feeback on this subject. Then comes the actual problem: possession power doesn't register her existance. It's like she doesn't exist at all. Gene and Jeremy are there perfectly possessable, but Sophia isn't.

"Well?" Gene doesn't seem very happy with this failed simulacrum of her wife. "I don't know what you are trying to do, but whatever the book gives you won't be directly useful."

"Looking at what powers he gave to himself and his first action, I think he tried to swap minds with Sophia. Haven't thought of that approach, but of course it doesn't work. She and the bloody book are effectively one as far as powers are concerned." Jeremy says sitting on the last step of stairs. "Good thinking though. Seven points."

"Darn. I still have a couple of ideas, maybe we'll have enough time to try before the next tournament. Wait...time. Gene, when exactly did this happen? The original possession, I mean."

Give my transformed clone a Spell Ability to cast an AOE random mind swap in a 2m radius around the caster. Move the transformed clone within range of the woman and see if that spell can bypass the "direct effect" thing. If that doesn't work, get rid of Possession and my Spell Ability. Give my transformed clone another Spell Ability of an AOE spell to separate soul from body with 2m radius. Like, Astral Projection separation where the soul can go back into the orginal body or another. Have my transformed clone try it on the woman. If it doesn't work on the book, see if my transformed clone can pull her soul out of the body and put it in the transformed body while taking her place. And if none of that works, give myself Exorcist and see if that gives me any knowledge on possible courses of action.
