How close am I to him? Does the armor have any chains or spikes available to stab with? If I am close enough and the armor can stab, do so. Hopefully we can direct this lightning to him instead. Then back away. If I can't stab at NAV, just back away until the lightning stops. Once free of the lightning, block any attacks coming my way. And have the armor cover my ear holes to prevent hearing NAVs mind controlling insults.

You are about 4 meters away. The armor is busy keeping you from being charred and I believe it said it already, but it can only attack when you are being attacked. NAV ain't attacking you (yet), so it can't do anything.

back up to safety. Let the armor cool, while moving back through the shadows in the village, away from all the towers, and around to the north and the shore. Consider the possibility of leaping through the electric barrier, while planting one chain in the ground and sticking one up above to channel the lightning until I am through. Discuss this plan with the armor, away from prying ears. Of course, if NAV attacks, defend.

I am a little irritated, AoshimaMichio. I have had three actions interpreted pretty much the opposite of what I intended this game. I specifically did not want to advance into the crowd of warriors from within the safety of my hostages and the hut earlier. I was using those hostages as shields, after all.

And I specifically wanted to find a corpse away from prying eyes this round. As well, I was pretty clear about not wanting to rush into the obvious trap regardless. Now, if that last was some mind control from NAV, fine.

Still, it's a pretty good game. I am something of a sore loser, so it will be hard for me to be happy if i lose, but objectively, I think it's fine. I'm still trying to think of a way to use my bet prize though.

I have a feeling it's about to become useless to me anyway, even after the round ...

You decided toss the one hostage at the enemy and rest of them were not too happy to be near you. You also stated a biting attack, which is hard to do without getting up close and personal. It worked well until RNG abandonded you.

There was no bodies where no one had no change to see you. The one I made you get was basically the best chance, even if it meant getting close. You have black armor and generally dark fur/feathers which helped you much, but dice decided otherwise. And the charge into the obvious trap was indeed NAV's doing.


For where I have misinterpreted I'm sorry. I try to read actions and situation with my best ability, but sometimes subtle nuances of english language escape my attention. I did fail few english courses in high school after all. And when GM asks for clarification it usually means danger ahead and result meta gaming, which is what I want to avoid.

a clarification would have been appropriate for "shield myself  with civilians, throw them and bite" when "bite" means "leave all your hostage meatshields and the hut and rush in to the middle of ten armed men." Otherwise, fine. Same for "sneak away and kill or steal a corpse"  when there is a corpse in line of sight between the guy I'm hiding from and the one light source. Especially when intent has been evident from other IC posts. Meta works both ways.

I'm not asking for a retcon or anything. I accept the rationale and outcome. If I wanted to win at all cost, I could have.

Ozarck vs NAV!

You hesitate to move. Your target is so close, yet it might be even more dangerous to approach and if you run away he will have free shot at you. He does have that godly aura after all, so he might have even more dangerous tricks in his sleeves. Your hesitation is all NAV needs and he throws another those pillar seeds at you! Or more like tosses in lazy arc.

Your armor tightens to the point where you are having hard time to breathe as it grows another chain from freed links. With this new chain it gracefully grabs the shard from midair and throws it to the side where it flashes and sprouts another pillar. "I know this trick now!" your armor chimes. Then with its three non glowing hot chains it drags you out of lighting arc and closer to NAV. "Kill him! Spill his blood! Feed me!"

The tree chains it used to ground you and drag you are absorbed back into the main armor letting you breathe again and the glowing hot chains above your head extend further out towards NAV, like hungry fingers.

Your back hurts, and you smell burned hairs.

You plant as much hesitation into his mind as you can and toss the shard in lazy arc at him. His armor grows another chain from chest which grabs the shard and throws it to the side. The chains chime in manner that almost sounds like words: "I know this trick now".

Then using the new chain and other two struck in ground it drags Ozarck's body out of lighting arc and closer to you. You can see his middle head is dead, apparently impaled by your warriors. Now that he's out of shocking line the chains return into the black chain mail armor and the glowing hot chains above his body extend outwards, reaching you like hungry fingers. Again you hear the armor chiming: "Kill him! Spill his blood! Feed me!"

Go for the throat! Bite and Bite. Pull him in with my paws so he is smothered against the armor.

Specifically, dash forward, low, and lunge at him. if he attempts to dodge, steer toward him. Again, have the armor cover my ears to keep NAV from influencing me that way, and avoid looking at the flashes of the beads he throws. Let the armor deflect them, of course. Do not touch the central pillar, and do not run far enough or hard enbough to enter the lightning arc between any pair of pillars.

PS. don't know if it matters, but don't look in his eyes either.

Ozarck vs NAV!

You lunge towards NAV's scaly troat. Which means you run though the invisible line between pillar in middle and the one in south west. Your armor is thankfully up to the task having its already hot chains up leading the arc over you.

Just as you are about to bite his throat extreme hesitation takes over your mind again. Why he's just sitting there?! It's like he's just slouching on sofa, taking this whole life threatening situation as if it doesn't even matter! It's trap! It must be trap!

Your sudden fear and hesitation gives NAV time to slam his open palm at your chest. The palm that happens to hold two of those pillar seeds. Unexpectedly you don't feel his palm connecting you, nor do you sense the usual shockwave or light flash associated with those shards.

"Gotcha!" The armor chimes. You look down and see NAV's hand being held just few centimeters away from you by short chains wrapped around his palm and fingers.
"You are mine now!" The glowing hot chains that were used to protect you from lightning, now shining bright yellow light, wraps around NAV's throat, burning their way through scales and flesh, boiling blood in arteries and effectively decapitating him in rather painful way.

You win!

How's the armor reacting to your holy aura? By wanting furiously drink your blood. Cerberus also seems to want to do better job at killing you.

He lunges at you, completely ignoring lightning strike from middle pillar and the southern one because his armor again leads the arc over him. Thankfully he stops as you fill his mind with fear and hesitation, his teeth hoving just centimeters away from your throat. Mind of the armor however is like a stone wall covered with hot serrated spikes and attempting to influence it is like slamming your hand on those spikes repeatedly. You learn your lesson fast and go with backup plan.

You try to slam your open palm with two remainging shards into his chest, but are stopped just before connecting. Short chains erupted from his chest and grabbed your hand and fingers, effectively stopping your attack. "Gotcha!" the armor chimes. "You are mine now!"

The hot chains, now shining bright yellow light, wraps themselves around your neck, burning their way through scales and flesh, boiling blood in arteries and effectively decapitating you in rather painful way.

You lose.

"And here ends the third match and the one to progress into semifinals is OZARCK! Round of applause for him besting finalist of previous tournament! Not a small feat! Albeit that armor of his might be a tad overpowered... Either way, his next opponent will be Generally me or ATHATH, who actually seems to have troubles winning bets in this tournament!

With his victory Ozarck secures prize cards for himself, Spiderking50 and Generally me. NAV also did bet number of his cards for ATHATH's victory, but since he no longer have any cards, his bet is invalidated."

I arise from my VR machine and walk over to greet NAV as he climbs from his, to offer a warm handshake and sincere congratulations on a match well fought.

"You had me pretty worried there, NAV. I didn't know how that match was going to end. I had to fight it fr all I was worth, and in the end, it was a lucky card draw that got me through. Those towers were something else, and your strategy really had me sweating."

I hesitate a moment, before continuing, a little embarrassed.

"Had it gone the other way, I'd certainly have cheered you all the way to the end."

Shake Ozark's hand and pat him on the back.
"Great game! It seemed bit slow during the middle, but had a very good ending. Nice work with that faraday cage and catching my crystals, that was very impressive. Good luck in the next round. I'll be cheering for you.

I didn't really get the best cards this round. The emotion influencing and towers were great, but besides that I had buoyancy, weather sense, and gliding. So overpowered! Eh, you know what they say only a poor craftsman blames his tools.

Now I'm gonna go watch the replay from your point of view."

I'll check out your view as well. Yeah, that armor really came through. I made a few mistakes. It slowed down because I was trying to find a workaround so I wouldn't have to barrel into your lightning trap. Well, I don't want to go into too much more detail. I think I still have a secret or two against the next opponent. Maybe. Great game!

Gary tries to tackle it, but the "boar" flies straight through its body killing him in a puff of fire, sniffing Gary out of existance. Ivan and Bert see smoke trailing it.

Controlling it with Control Light? That... that creates another flying boar. One that moves as you wish, and another that doesn't.

The are hard to see, but you do manage to fly through one evaporation zone. Which, by the way, sets few of your feathers on fire. And almost gives you first degree burns.

And now you are invisible for some reason. You have no idea if your boar illusion is still active or not, but you can't see yourself at all. And there's another flying boar, identical to your illusionary form. This is getting interesting...
