Kaldach sighed, his argument evidently ignored.
: "How about the part where we don't even know if the Emblem's there? You really want to go all-in on this without at least looking the place over?"

"Do you have any idea how hard it would be for me to get into the palace? Have you missed how I've had to hide my status as a half-elf here? The others have it easier. My ears give me away every second. They wouldn't let me in with my hood up, not like they did at the city gates. Or at least not unsupervised. I don't think you understand just how severely this country has turned against those with any non-human blood. Regardless of my status, I would not have enough free reign to simply stroll around and look into all of their treasure rooms."

[Sirus]

Thank the gods for helmets...

: "...I think that what he's saying is that we don't know that the Emblem is in the castle itself. It could be in a treasure vault somewhere, or a manor house. Even if it is in the castle we won't have any real idea where to look for it and we can't possibly search the whole place while avoiding the guards at the same time. It's a fair enough point. Hopefully the pegasus girl can figure something out."

"His point was that I should try and figure out if it was in there. My point was that I cannot do that. As for if the Emblem is there or not, the king spends all his time in the castle. If this country has it, it will not be far away from him. He likes his treasures. It's why the only non-humans in the country are those protected in his royal court. They are his treasures that have some sort of special talent."

"Living a life of luxury I bet, while the rest of us have to pull and scrape every last damn coin. Even if the Emblem isn't there, I'm for robbing his royal ass blind while we're in the place."

: What about sending someone less obviously prone to receiving racist attacks to do the diplomat part? Since Kaldach is so interested in checking out the place.

: "Um. No offense, but he doesn't seem like the...diplomatic type."

[Swordstar]

"Even if we did send someone, the likelyhood that they would be allowed free reign of the palace is minuscule."

She pulled a few papers out of her pouch.

"The innkeeper here is an agent for the council. He told me that not only has recruitment picked up recently, but that the throne room is completely shut off to the public now. Only those who get invited in are allowed, and rumor says that only the general has been invited in lately. Not even the prince has been in in the last few weeks. So it seems likely that is where a treasure would be."

: "Seriously? Not even to deliver some missive or some shit from the council as a cover while you map what you can out? Then why mention the diplomatic option at all if you weren't confident your 'council connections' could let you strut in there and ask in an official capacity?!"
Kaldach groaned and scratched his head.
: "And off that- I'm not even saying we need to stop some king bootlicker and ask nicely where the treasure room is, or find fucking blueprints to the place. My point is, we can do this completely blind and risk tipping them off, or we can glean every little facet about the place we can before going all out."
Kaldach sighed on hearing Edgar and Keyleth.
: "Also- no."

Julia nodded at Alaria, though there seemed to be some other argument gong on anyway.

"I can do both of those things. Scout around after I'm inside and such. I don't think I could take anyone with me though." A sudden thought struck her and she mumbled under her breath, "well maybe if I..."

[Swordstar]

"*IF* I was approaching as an official diplomat with an entourage, I would be allowed to enter the palace. I would then be placed in a room where discussion and negotiations would happen. If things went well, I would likely be given a tour of the palace and a gift afterwards in return for the diplomatic gift that I gave them at the start of the process. If things went poorly, I would be escorted out and told to return home as soon as possible. I would not be given the freedom to look around unless diplomacy had already occurred. And there. Julia can do this. Though, it would perhaps be best if you could figure out a way to take one other with you? Just for safety in numbers."

[Sirus]

After a moment, Keyleth spoke up irritably.

: "...maybe if you what? Come on, we're not mind readers here."

"Fer now."

"It's just a stupid idea on how to get someone else in with me. The only way it would work is if someone and I"
