Now I just want to know what kind of assurance you have for us that you don't intend to kill us all once the fire emblem belongs to you. Kaltsar almost asked the question. Almost. In the end, distrust for the nobles won out. They could go. They could even do as they were asked. But once the group had the emblem,  they controlled the bargaining field, even if the nobles did hold Dar's life in their hands. "Fine."

All Taft cared about was a way to save his own skin.

"Fine, we'll do the damn job. And then we're pardoned. Free and clear, yeah? None of this 'one more task' bollocks."

"It's not just a pardon you'll receive. You'll also be compensated for your troubles. Do not worry."

"As for your other questions... The rumors are just that, rumors. But they make sense. Many of the bandit attacks have been focused on those of non-human descent or those who live alongside them peacefully. We have been in contact with their king and he claims it is not anything he is involved in. However, these bandits are far too well equipped to not have a sponsor of some sort. Our hope was that you would go as our official ambassadors and attempt to convince the king to hand over the Emblem without any fuss. He has agreed to meet with you, though he believes you are there to discuss the bandit attacks, not the Fire Emblem. Now, are there any questions?"

Yeh. You geezers do realize we ain't you fancy ivory tower types, right? The only sort of 'ambassador' work we do is at crossbow point.

Aloud, he just sighed.

"Nah."

"Your horse will be returned to you when you leave. Your leader is alive, but you will not be allowed to see him. After all, it wouldn't do for you to think that you could pull a jailbreak, now would it?"

: Thieves. For official diplomacy. Right...
Kaldach shrugged.
: "Fine. No skin off my back."

Qorhal put on a smug smile, but said nothing.

"Aye. If we gaunnae out of here, by the skin of our teeth, we dinnae have much choose. Beggars cannae be choosers." Angus throws his hands in the air out of frustrated acceptance of the situation.

"Very well then. If you will all just hold still for a second..."

A flash of light surrounded the party as the three council memebers made a series of complex gestures. The light faded and they found themselves in the countryside.

Chapter 1: The Stirring Breeze

"We should be near the border of Tairani and Oldrdyn. Your mounts and supplies had been sent ahead. They're on the cliffs up ahead."

As the group made their way ahead, Alaria frowned. She slipped away from the group, and didn't return for a good 10 minutes. In that time, the rest of the group made their way and found their mounts and supplies. Suddenly Alaria appeared out of nowhere.

"Bandits! They're headed for the village, we must warn them!"

Kaldach scratched his head and grunted in annoyance at Alaria.
: "They even say they were sending an escort..? I didn't catch that in the middle of all the old man droning."
Shaking his head, he merely loosened his sword and walked forward.
Kaldach to C8.
: "'bout time I bled some sense out of bandits instead of all that sneaking shit anyway."

"You think they would trust a bunch of thieves to do the job by themselves? And before you all get any ideas in your head, that warping spell that brough us here can be replicated. I may not be as powerful as those three, but they have given me charms that will replicate it. So if you even think of turning on me, you'll soon find yourself right back in the throne room."
