If it was me, I'd put it through a long and painful death. Then you get a pretty statue! Maybe, just to make it's ghost furious, melt the statue and turn it into something stupid, like a pipe section.

With all those deaths, I say zoo it - you could probably use the happy thoughts.

If you can get them to chase someone near your fortress, yes sieges work.

As far as I know, goblin seiges still don't work properly.

Fair Warning: Spoiler about what happened below!

What happened there was the unfortunate convergence of typical dwarvern stupidity (ie, "Oh gee!  There's stuff outside on a corpse that needs to be picked up *right now*!") and me not hitting the All Dwarves Stay Indoors button fast enough.

The goblins were quite happy milling about the edge of the map, not disturbing anything.  Then one of the human caravan mules wandered a bit too close and the human mercenary rushed off to slay them all.  Quick slaughter.  Then they caught sight of the actual merchant and offed him.  Then a smaller group saw one of my dwarves and charged off after them.  Then more and more dwarves bumbled into the goblins in a mad dash to get inside, which ended up leading the goblins right into my fort.  >_<

Makes for a heck of a story though!

1st Limestone - After witnessing all the carnage of the previous month, one of my armorers, Nish òroslan, got it in her mind that she would craft something with which to protect herself with in case she ever got attacked.  I think she, like most everybody else here in their own way, went a touch mad.  Rather than constructing a full suit of armor, she only crafted a single copper high boot and it's unclear which foot it's supposed to go on.  All the same, the sheer level of work she put into it's design is impressive, though I question it's defensive value.

I've decided to place the colossus and it's cage in the back area of my front gateway.  It's out of the way, and it's easily walled off in case it escapes.

16th Limestone - While the dwarvern caravan arrived with my requested gemstones and metal bars, I briefed our liaison about the attack from the previous month.  He couldn't do much more than offer his condolences.  He was impressed when I showed him our captured creature.  Says he'll bring word of it back to the mountainhome.  I expect our talks to go well.

17th Timber - Our catacombs have long since been expanded to accommodate the brave dwarves who died in the attacks.

I'll hold the ceremony for the dwarves lost in battle at the turning of the year in three months, as tradition states.  Let's hope that 1055 holds better tidings for us.

19th Moonstone, 1054 - A kobold ambushed one of my workers outside, no doubt in retribution for our killing of their leader.  The reports I've received say that Urist Lolumstuko's throat was slit from behind, and while she put up a fierce fight and took the kobold down with her bare hands, she couldn't maintain her hold on life.

That puts us at 21 dwarves dead since the first pick struck the ground three years ago.  Will this forsaken year ever be finshed?

19th Moonstone - I've received another report that some of the trained dogs have taken out two more kobolds.  I'm doing what I can to keep morale up.

Sorry...holdiay madness (plus other real world intrusions).  I'll have to load up the game in the new version and see if it works.  Otherwise, I'll see what I can do about getting thing thing going again.
