Yeah, I'm well used to that dilemma from 3.5e. It's actually one of the big reasons why I'm so enamored with 5e (another being that primary casters aren't nearly as broken).

Thankfully PF at least makes it a bit easier to be a competent combatant for them, especially by trimming down the vast lists of things that couldn't be hurt by precision damage (and giving Rogues an easy way to get Dex to damage). When I skimmed through the sheets and plans back at the beginning of the thread, it looked like most people were leaning towards combat-oriented roles, so I decided to do something that would support that without being dead weight (and without being a caster, because I seriously am sick just thinking about playing one at this point).

But if it's a thing like a Rogue really not fitting the way the campaign is going (either by trivializing problems or by being irrelevant) I can roll up... hm, an Oracle or maybe an Unchained Monk would be fun. Might do that anyways if you don't need to pull the Rogue in.

Given that Rogues couldn't sneak attack over half of the monsters in the game... A few of which are used as staples of themed dungeons (rather than being one off enemies in them)... yeah it was a huge problem

Rogues in 3.5 were Naroko from Inuyasha, one of the most powerful and useful characters in the anime but anytime a bee shows up he basically has to sit on his ass.

As for a rogue, a rogue is fine. Unchained Rogue I think improves one huge aspect of the Rogue... namely that there was never a good reason to attempt to be a Dex Rogue because a strength rogue was better in everyway.

Can we actually not waitlist him and just add him right in, would be nice to have a full party for once.

As for rogue not being useful... humm, I am technically a rogue archetype so i get some of the skill monkey ish abilities (perception, craft alchemy, disable device, survival, and a little bit of knowledge skills.)  Basically I can track people, sneak around and pick locks.

Than we've got a witch that seems to be focused on disability hexs, a bloodrager who well.. blood rages quite effectively.  A cavalier, who charges down the enemy with righteous fury.
A ranger who can't really hit anything, and never does damage but at least she can fly!  ((note sentient bowtie almost never shows up.   Like seriously bro the time slots not changed for the last 4 weeks, and you kinda showed up for part of one of them.))
Me the greater cleaving slayer half-elf who I swear could probably get lift offa how fast I've spun before.

I dunno what DreXav is making but the implication was healer something as we lacked that horrifically.

So... if DreXav does make a healer, and you said you don't want to be a wizard than you'd just be a secondary of pretty much whatever you pick.  One thing to note though is we don't really have any ranged combatants, my slayer can use a crossbow but not well and our ranger is duel-wielding focused.  While the witch's spells are mostly range-touch far as I can tell (which is actually within her aura so... 20 feet or something?)

Alright I guess. 8th slot it is.

I would be more than happy if someone else took a healer! So give it to the 8th guy :P
I will roll either a Brawler or Sacred Fist Warpriest, but I would prefer no caster role... mainly cause I have not played one in 10 years so it would be a completely alien experience!

My character has not been introduced to the party yet, so it probably would not have any voting power. Still, my interest would be as following:

31st Guild Challenge:
-Details: The 31st and below guilds are feuding for the 30th ranking. They wish to do a battle royale between all the guilds for that coveted spot. There is no limit to the number of applicants but there is a 5000 gold fee per guild.
-Reward: Official 30th Ranking, 20,000 gold
Increased ranking should lead to more lucrative contracts, which long-term ought to be the most beneficial choice. My first pick.

The Warriors: Blasted Fae
-Details: A Fairy seems to be hidden inside the city and we need someone to track it down and slay it. It might have already made a home so we prescribe caution.
-Reward: 5000 gold
-Impact: Large
Very modest reward but large impact, hence it would improve our standing and lead to.. more lucrative contracts. My second pick.

The Townsfolk: Howling in the sewers
-Details: After the murders there have been disturbing signs. Howls in the middle of the night, scratching sounds along the floors, and things that have been left out over night have gone missing. We are afraid for our lives.
-Reward: Gratitude
-Impact Medium
No reward but gratitude of the Townsfolk could prove useful.

The Rebels: A Show of Glory
-Details: Currently a Hero is trying to take down a giant that has been harassing the country side in order to gloat over it later. Kill that Giant first and show that the people have a savior even without the gods stepping in.
-Reward: +1 Flaming Longsword, +1 Mithril Chainshirt
Same as previous one, though the actual rewards are pretty cheap.

The rest of the quests smell like altruism and suicides, being of no interest to my character

I think the fae would be more aggrivating than it'd be worth.  Trying to find a fae the size of a mouse in the entire city...

The Heroes: Dragon Blocking our path
-Details: There has been a dragon blocking and raiding the major trade route to the Hero lands and seems to instinctively know to avoid the larger caravans, but smaller groups have been harassed.
-Reward: A +1 Dragon Bone Platemail
-Impact: Little
Who doesn't like dragon slaying? I'm all for this.

The Warriors: Blasted Fae
-Details: A Fairy seems to be hidden inside the city and we need someone to track it down and slay it. It might have already made a home so we prescribe caution.
-Reward: 5000 gold
-Impact: Large
Why do we need to kill this fairy? I say ask her to join the guild, she might be useful!

The Destroyers: Capture Goblins
-Details: We want to alleviate our personal sacrifices so we are currently paying for anyone who can capture a few goblins. We have maps and can point you towards any we want and will buy back any equipment you buy in one piece for full price.
-Reward: 500 gold a head, bonuses if you manage to capture a particularly high amount.
-Impact: None
Sleep hex will make this much easier.

The one's I'd go for and my opinion on each of them. I narrow them done to three.

Yep taking these missions and doing the opposite is fully viable.

If you spin it right, you might even manage to get the reward too.  :P

In reference to the above, here's a couple things I could do:

1. Life mystery Oracle. The Curse options I'd seriously consider for that would be Aged (mental stat boosts with minimal physical losses, eventual immunity to death effects), Child (eventual extra revelation and Holy Aura as a bonus spell), or Merciful (Upside: Lay on Hands scaling with Oracle level + three mercies from the Paladin list; Downside: If someone asks for aid and I have a spell or ability that can do it, I must help them immediately regardless of what it is. This could eventually get to the point where, theoretically, every day after hitting 18th level I'd be forced to cast True Resurrection for the first 3/4/6 random people to ask me.)

2. Flame mystery Oracle. It was mentioned that the party's short on ranged firepower, and this is the best blasting mystery there is. Since the Oracle's normal spells are drawn from the Cleric spell list, we'd still end up with all the Cures for healbotting with an extra dose of Fireball, elemental summons, and eventually costless at-will Enlarge/Extend/Silent/Still spell on fire spells. But this is ultimately going to be a halfassed healer/blaster that won't do as well as a dedicated one.

3. Archetype'd Paladin (Hospitaller and Oath of Charity): First weakens Smite Evil but replaces Channel Positive Energy with a version that treats the Paladin as a Cleric at (CL - 3) and can be used without using up Lay on Hands uses, and eventually lets you use that CPE as a healing aura that automatically stabilizes allies and gives free saves against some things, as a replacement for Aura of Justice.

The second increases the healing of Lay on Hands by 50% when used on others in exchange for decreasing it by 50% when used on yourself. It also replaces Divine Bond (the mount) with the ability to select a new set of mercies each day. Additionally, it binds the player to an additional code of conduct that requires offering aid to the Good and to the poor.

Though to be perfectly honest, there's a solution to healing that's been around for a long time: UMD + Wands of CLW. I'm not particularly enamored with playing a healbot when that role can easily be filled by a single skill and cheap items. Hell, if I make a ranged attacker I'll spend a little of my wealth on buying some.

Going to draw up ideas for ranged DPS now. Can't play the old games with the Scout now that it doesn't exist, so I'll probably look into doing a Zen Archer Monk or possibly a blaster Sorcerer if I can stomach it.

An oracle would be a cool addition to the party, paladin might have too much conflict considering this party seems almost evil :P

The other guy that is joining with me rolls an Archer Fighter, an easy class that will keep things moving smoothly since he's a newbie to D&D :) so might want to skip drafting a ranged DPS char.
