Playing solo due to lack of regular time to feed myself or my dino's on a server. Solo stops time when you stop. There may or may not be a server in "Play With Your Buddies".

So I've had this on my wishlist for a while, and the Sale may be the time for me to take the leap...but I'm wary of games that are, ultimately, mainly built around the multiplayer (because of some historical annoyances in the past, usually due to server populations waning the game becoming progressively more and more empty as time goes on).

I'm aware there's a solo play/singleplayer mode.  Is it enjoyable enough to make the game worth it purely for that?  I mean, I will play the multiplayer, but in eight years' time when the multiplayer community is dead and gone, will there still be enough game left over?

Singleplayer is fun. Its not as fun as with friends, but still pretty fun.

I had fun taking turns playing it with friends on a single pc. Pretty much: appear, start chopping wood, immediately die horribly to a giant snake hiding in the tree, pass the keyboard to a friend. We all had a blast, going to start a server game once I am done with my epic cross country move

If you decide to join a server, me and BigD145 have been playing on the unofficial server "BecauseOtherServersSuck" its pretty good.

10-20 people on a lot of the time. Large multiplyers for gathering and leveling and taming. Offline protection for individuals and tribes. High level dino's.
