Look at the bright side, you'll rarely starve on that server.

edit: but yeah, I'll be taking a look when the server seems stable.

I am having something of an issue here.. Is it normal for the game to have such long loading times?
It seem to take especially long time with the Primitive Plus DLC on.

edit:
Started playing without Primitive Plus and I can now start up a Single player game much faster now.
Why must that overhaul take so long to load any way?

Primitive is not well supported. It was broken for something like a year.

Nordic Survival

Seems like the game want me to install battleye.
Not sure if I even want to deal with installing software I barely know anything about, just to play on a server.

So what doe Battleye do, exactly?
What is it looking for that might be considered as cheating?
Is it only for this one game, or is it looking at everything i do?

I don't want to install anything potentially invasive.

It only runs when you open Ark, and closes when you close Ark. Not sure what else it does though.

Does it act up if I open an internet browser? Because I often do that to look up dinos and such.

Battleye is an anti-cheat service. It just makes sure you aren't running any programs that tamper with how Ark executes so that you can't use a cheat program. Battleye's been around since the mid-00s, it's an ancient and venerable piece of software, and I have to give the developers credit for not completely ruining it from there to here.

So it won't take notice of programs I use to.. do stuff in singleplayer-only games completely unrelated to Ark?

What's it going to do, ban you from your local server?

Good point.
I am just a bit precautious over things getting me forever banned from something for something I didn't do or intend to do.

I mean you don't really need the hax for ARK, you can toggle things like dino taming to 100x (almost anything really) at the main screen.

You can straight up use dev codes to do most anything. Whatever you do with Steam open you can do with Battleye running.

So.. Anyone up for making a tribe with the goal of exterminating every single Ichthyornis on the server?

Seriously though, I cannot seem to enjoy the game with those hellspawn constantly hounding me and stealing things.
I can deal with Pegomastax though, as they remain on the ground and are relatively easy to kill. But the flying vermin are a pain to deal with.
