I just bought this game because those new biomes look amazing. Would much rather play with other people though, so I would be in for a B12 server, maybe we could split the server costs? It seems like it's about 20$ per month for a small server, I could donate 5$ per month.

I'll say it again- I rent a dedicated server with priority CPU and 40 slots. I'll need to reactivate it, but I will gladly, and don't mind footing the expense myself. Just, you know, tell me you are interested before I go through those hoops. I've hosted servers before, only for five other B12ers to create their own, and divide the playerbase until it's empty within a week.

I'd offer strongly worded suggestions to other server-hosts to fuck right off?  :P

But seriously though, what sort of settings would you be thinking in terms of progression multipliers? Visible self-position on the map Y/N?

I do think that ARK is somewhat of a different scenario compared to Terraria, Starbound, &c. since there's not any concern about whether old characters can be brought in (as long as you're not a fool, hah), and living space/resources aren't at such a premium.

If it came down to player vote, I'd vote YES to visible self-position.
Navigating an already-explored part of any game map is confusing for me otherwise. Unless said game has visible landmarks on it.

That particular one is something I'd appreciate as well. I can land-navigate reliably around the mid-southern beaches, valleys, and hills, but that's about it.

And seriously though, fuck taming times. That's only remotely practical if you've got a tribe of a dozen or more unemployed people.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

Yeah, I'd vote for fast taming times as well, also a at least slight increase in resource gathering effectiveness might be nice.

Definitely not too high on the resources, though. No more than 3x-5x, I've played on servers with more and you repeatedly have to dump stacks of shit out of your mounts whenever you kill things. Lost more than one lightweight dino because they got immobilized during a fight.

I would be fine with 3x, I just don't want Wurm Online-like construction times for a tiny hut.

Oh, of course. I play SP with 3x on everything; the game really was built with small-group cooperation at the heart, from shared exp to the heavy grind you face going alone to engram limits.

It would be cool to have the engram restrictions on a potential community server though, that way teamwork/trading is encouraged.

Ofc. It's not like you can't manage without anyways, just a pain to play Pokemon with blueprints.

you can reduce taming times 5x by using kibble, and if you starve them first you dont need to spend any kibble until your ready to tame it all at once, just keep the dino unconscious.
